@donblosser87202 жыл бұрын
I was on the plane once with "Mr. Toomey". Or at least someone behaving very much like his rude self. On my way from California to the east coast, my flight was unexpectedly grounded in Phoenix Arizona because of summer thunderstorms. I don’t recall exactly how long it was but of course the delay was not exactly welcomed by the passengers, though we took it patiently. At least most of us did. There was one individual… but more about that in a bit. However long it was, at least 2 or 3 hours, we finally heard the announcement that boarding was starting for our flight. Yippee! We all boarded the plane and it was soon rolling toward the takeoff runway. Until it stopped. The pilot eventually came on the loudspeaker and in an obviously tired and apologetic voice said, “I am very sorry for this folks, but we are going to need to return to the terminal.” I don’t remember how much longer it took for us to finally get off the ground but I do remember a certain passenger. Likely a businessman, he was seeing dollar signs turning over backward as the elapsed minutes ticked by. Mr. “Time is Money”. He was livid and, being within earshot, I heard him in his seat talking on his cellphone. He demanded to speak to the president of the airline. He apparently wound up speaking to someone at the executive level and, in the most heated and irate terms possible, began to demonstrate obvious signs of having activated his own personal RDF. That’s a “Reality Distortion Field”. He described the initial flight delay and the subsequent time sitting on the plane and said something like, “These people on the plane are about to riot. They’re going to tear this plane apart”. As he spoke these words I looked about the cabin at all the passengers sitting calmly in their seats and patiently suffering the slings and arrows of modern flying difficulties. I'm sure this character made zero difference in our actual takeoff time.

It's funny how a lot of people who think this is a good movie are arguing you have to read the book when the mark of a good adaptation is you don't have to read the book to understand or enjoy the film. Idk why people can't admit that they like something that isn't very good and move on. Hell, I adore Space Jam even though it's a flaming piece of shit. I know it is and I don't care. I'm sure there are some who honestly believe this is good but I'm pretty sure the majority just doesn't want their taste insulted.
@applesdust802010 жыл бұрын
I agree. I never understood why they were seemingly unaffected by anything outside the plane until the hammy cartoon character stabbed them. I mean they pointed it out that on the plane time has effect and unless your stabbed in the head, it takes time for you to bleed out as he's trying to say. A stab in the back will not instantly kill you nor in the chest, it still takes some amount of time to succumb. So that never made sense. And the bullet obviously fired, so why didn't the power ranger guy start bleeding out when he got to the plane like one of the five times he was on it afterwards.... fucking stupid.

Poor Dean Stockwell, why couldn't you of avoided this. Just go back to Quantum Leap.

Robin L. Tinderfox Outside of Leap, he has been in a LOT of shit. He is a B movie actor at its finest.

What is that song at 8:10? I hear it so much but I have no idea what it is...

Why doesn't this ever mention the auto pilot? If it did, it would help explain how the plane flew threw the wormhole without knowing it assuming it opened up above and sticker it in. Also, the British guy could then live and not take his life flying the plane in for the others. Wouldn't that just make all the sense in the world?

***** nice avatar, and ok guess your right. Still odd though.

You missed one more Stephen King cliche - one of the main characters is a writer. (see It, Misery, The Shining, Secret Window, Salem's Lot)

The pilot looks like an older version of Simon Pegg.

You know, as a fan of King's books I'm constantly annoyed by Critic complaining about them, yet I can't help but laugh. This guy is just having SO MUCH FUN with his job.

Yknow the shining was never Kubrichs shining masterpiece. Steven King was the one who originally wrote it after all.

***** Im not talking about the movie though. Steven wrote the book and kubrich adapted it.

Spring Trap Im not talking about his reaction to it earlier. King wrote the book and kubrich adapted it, meaning it was never kubrichs masterpiece. Just a good adaption of a good tale.

***** I guess thats true. I just dont like the way critic aggresively proclaims how steven fucked it up even though he originally made it.

But, as we saw from Stephen King's The Shining, Kubrick made a great film from it.

Out of all the dumb stuff in this movie, the one that confuses me most is “Mommy, look at the new people!” Like...what? Nine-year-old kids in the real world don’t point at random people in the airport and say cryptic shit like that.
