Hi Pat, You know the only thing missing was flared trousers!! A great trip back to the 70s!! All of a sudden it's 50 years ago, how did that happen!! That was a wonderful experience to see those deer. What a magnificent beast he was, he didn't take his eye off you for one second, truly amazing. Your tent looked brand new, a real treat to have all that space. We forget how little choice there was back then, maybe there was also the Little Chef if you were on the road. If you were in Halifax then you at least had Cliffe's Cafe, that was my Uncles cafe. Your menu was spot on, it's exactly what we would have had, right down to the Mateus Rose!! Look forward to seeing you in the pub shed next time. All the best!!

Thanks, Patrick, that was great! Two of my first tents in the early 1970s were a Blacks two-person and a Blacks one-person, both with a similar design and generous porch. Excellent gear, very weatherproof, and I don't recall any condensation issues. I was never able to cook in the porch, because we can't do that in bear country, but it made the tent extra comfortable in bad weather and a great place for my dog. Mike

What a great video, Patrick. As i watched it, it took me back to the 70s. At 16 yrs old i was gifted a A frame Fallraven tent. Everyone else was using force 10 tents by Vango. The top of mine was metal. And you were spot on with the food and drinks. Thanks, Patrick, for a great video!! I will be reminiscing of that time all day.
@patrickdickinson649210 күн бұрын
Hi pippa yes force 10 tents very strong but very heavy but not a great choice. Fallraven sounds great ahead of its time, good to look back, and enjoy some nice 1970's hospitality......thanks Pat

Your wild camping videos are by far the best, Patrick. Really enjoyed this one, as usual! I was born in the 1970s, so I'm probably around the same age as your tent, ha ha! I want a Black Forest Gateau now.
@patrickdickinson64929 күн бұрын
Hi Natasha, I was so suprised how people instantly new the menu from all those years ago, suppose we had little choise back then, I do have half a Gateau in the freezer, if I can find my saw I'll cut you a peice.......thanks Pat

Classic Video Pat! Field & Trek used to be a catalogue that I used to dream of buying from (Before Mike Ashley bought it). Well done quaffing the average whiskies! We are indeed spoilt with beers and whisky’s these days! Looking forward to RV’ing in the pub shed! Thanks as always!

Awesome video, as per usual.... Love the whisky reviews too 😅 Sat here with my 3 year aged Lidl Single Malt 😬 Local legend Patrick Dickinson, uploads again... I still drive past Homebase, thinking of you camping up there.... My son also did the culvert walk from Heeley , to to Meersbrook, which you did a few years ago.... He also loves your videos... All the best mukka... 🤜💥🤛

Great video again Pat. You always come up with something new and interesting. We're almost exactly the same age and what a reminder of our young days that was. Remenber when 'wagon wheels' were huge? They were good times. We were lucky. Oh! and the film of the Red deer was the icing on the cake. What magnificent creatures! See you in the pub shed. I'll get plenty beer in mate.

Hi Pat watching Saturday in middle of storm. When I was 18 in 1968 went with my girlfriend's family to a very expensive restaurant just outside Chester Craxton Wood where the only priced menu was given to the person paying the bill. We had Mateus Rose. Your palete is a lot more refined these days. Took me down memory lane, thanks a million. Regards from Chester.

Wonderful video, Pat. That brought back lots of memories. I had exactly the same F&T tent for decades (I lived near Brentwood where F&T were based) and used it many many times across the UK and Europe. Sadly it disappeared with my stolen Ford Escort that I parked briefly at Crookes Valley Park on August Bank Holiday to get an ice cream (one key fitted all Escorts). I got a replacement Phoenix which was identical except a nylon inner. You were brave drinking Johnny Walker, Bells (and Teachers) - they were only fit for alcohol stoves! Stick to the Glenfiddich!

Hi Simon sorry to hear about your theft, the thought of loosing a Ford Escort, would have been worth thousands now, and the loss of a Trailmaker very sad. I can see while people cringed when drinking some of the whisky’s of the 70’s, luckily we have progressed with our choice of whisky……all the best Pat

Always look forward to a new video Pat! Thank you 🙏🏻 now this campsite is one of my favourites because I can see it from home. My son saw me signalling my head torch to him when I was last there. Makes for an excellent camp on bonfire night for all the free fireworks 😉 I wonder if I’ll be making a nostalgic camp video in 2054 dedicated to back in the day, 2023 when I first started out and learning from you Pat 👍🏻 have a lovely Christmas and see ya on the next camp ⛺️ ATB, Sarah

Hi Sarah yes a lovely spot up there, great views and a natural table and seat, I was very lucky with the weather looking outside, nothing but wind and rain. great to get my old tent out again, wonder what you'll be sleeping in 2054, be careful though it will be round in the blink of an eye. i will be back in a coup[le of weeks although in the pubshed for a bit of a review of the year, and look at 2025, noy that there will be much change......thanks Pat

Cracking Pat. I was at Seal Stones last week watching the commuters on the Snake Pass thinking the same thing! Recreating the 70’s was kind of scary, you forget how basic life was back then. Atb Richard.

Hi Richard, sounds a lovely spot and quite sheltered behind some of those rocks, must return to Kinder not been up for a while, Bleaklow keeps drawing me up, life was very simple back then, less to worry about as well......all the best Pat
