So here's a song to celebrate, featuring my favorite mythical creature- if you hadn't guessed, it's werewolves. Awoo! 🐺 I had a bit of a head start- I started writing lyrics for this in September- but I still didn't finish quite as soon as I had hoped (I wrapped up recording and submitted to stores and stuff yesterday when I originally wanted to have it finished and posted on the 13th). That aside, I'm really happy with how it turned out! The video is nothing special, it's basically just a visualizer, but I tried to make it look interesting. (So, basically, I used a lot of wiggle expressions. It was fun! The "breathing" motion is my favorite detail I made with it.) The real credit for visuals goes to Sleppu, as he provided the illustration for the song! It's super gorgeous and I love it so much, y'all have no idea. He did an excellent job with every single bit of the process; I told him about an idea I had for the art and gave him creative freedom from there. I highly recommend commissioning him if you need illustrations for anything. Also, surprise! VOCALOID x Voice Provider duet!!!! ========= ....this comment was different for the premiere, cuz some folks can spoil the surprises somehow. If you’re used to DEX’s typical growl, you’ll know it sounds more like gargling- this is because, at the time I recorded it, I didn’t know how to do a growl, so his suffered for it. The growl you hear in this song, recorded much more recently- is me. I got made fun of a lot for DEX’s poor growl, so I decided to solo my own voice to be like, “Guess who learned.” It’s the most I’ve let my previously hurt feelings shape my creative decisions. I’m damn proud of that growl, too.

I found this song at just the right time -- I've been brainstorming a Vocaloid Monster AU lately (the focus is the PowerFX Vocaloids, since they had the whole monster thing as a recurring theme for Sweet Ann, Big Al and Oliver, but others ended up being part of it too) and I went with Dex being a werewolf because of his wolf motifs. The lyrics have kind of given me inspiration to pick up a story of mine I'd been writing snippets of years ago. Might even finish it. It basically about a group fighting monsters and one is vampire spawn that doesn't know it yet, though her partner does and is tasked with secretly keeping a leash on her and termination if necessary. She thinks she's just run of the mill since everyone has some quirk or ability. It was the last verse that gave me the inspiration, that she will go off the rails but the whole "you were nice to me" cliche lets her focus.
