okay i'm really not someone to leave super-long emo comments on songs, but man am i ever feeling this one tonight. so here we go. i saw another comment describing this song as 'devastatingly beautiful', and...yeah, that about sums it up. i love the atmosphere of the pv and the emotion in Dex's voice, the music that's almost upbeat but not quite...it's all just amazing. this is one of my new favorite songs already. the main reason i love this is...a little heavy, so just...stop reading if you want. my best friend killed himself last year, and i haven't been the same since. this song really just summarizes all the feelings i still have over the whole thing. i've mostly moved on- it's been a whole year, after all, and time does heal some wounds. but the line "i close my eyes, close them tight, and realize...what were the last words on your mind?" literally brought me to tears because there's so many questions i still have that i'll just never get the answers to, and it hurts to know that. his death just left...stains on me, i suppose, and this song makes me feel all of them. the beginning brings a whole new level of feels too- "stay back, don't touch me, i'm just a little bit paralyzed". it suddenly made me realize how withdrawn i've become since my friend's death- i've gotten scared of growing close to new people, since i'm so afraid to lose them. it's so easy to lose someone or something in a way that ensures you can never get them back. oblivion is always so so close, and sometimes that just slams me into a depressive existential crisis at a thousand miles an hour. but 'last words' makes it a good kind of hurt, because i miss my late friend, and that's okay. i know there's nothing i can do about it now, except remember him fondly and do my best to keep going. death is something that i don't know how to even think about, and it scares me beyond belief. but right now i'm safe and alive and i have other good friends who take care of me and keep me sane. i'm hurting, but it will be okay. thank you for this. this stupid comment got long and rambly and i'm sorry for that, but you captured the feeling of this fear perfectly. and i mean that as a good thing- a *great* thing. you're incredibly talented, and i'm extremely hyped for the rest of specters 💙

I love the train ride theme in these specters PVs and how the album cover is a view from the doors of a stopped train

It’s like a theme across them all…I actually like what someone else said, how it’s almost like they’re all on the same train, and no one really knows how others are feeling.

It's mellow and lonely, stylish and dramatic, jazzy, very attractive song!!!!!!!

The line "a long lost dream on a trip to the gutter now" is absolutely haunting. That and the very end of the song really elevate this song to the next level and drive it home, making it about something so much more than plain grief. It really captures the pity and the existential nightmare that comes with mourning, which just aren't discussed enough.

Gosh, your so talented! This omg hits hard... Despite being exposed to death time and time again in life, I'll never know how to treat the situation. There's always a level of..."what now?".;

Dex sounds really emotional, which really fits the song! The whole funeral atmosphere and the grief and uncertainty was perfectly captured as well! Also, I love the train theme!

this was simply devastating beautiful. It made me think about how these thoughts affect me as well. Dex is so sad but his voice is still so gorgeous. Combining that with the pv and the intricate lyrics and you've created something few ever do. I love this song and I love the message thank you so much Kenji!!

Of all the songs on specters, I keep coming back to this one. When this came out, I cried so much and still get tearful whenever I listen to it, but it’s become sort of a tool to help me heal. The lyrics really hit home for me, and I just want to say thank you Lupin for creating a song that has touched and comforted so many people

I almost cried when I connected the dots, funerals are harsh and really difficult to deal with. I’ve lost my little sister(actually cousin) before she was born when I was 7 or so, I still remember her little body ready to go to the ground... I miss you Bea.

OMG. I just realised something about the pvs in all the songs in specters. All of them are set on trains. I think it's meant to symbolize moving on, right?
@nostraightanswer4 жыл бұрын
Not quite. It's more about how fears are a regular thing, how anyone around you on public transit can have a fear or two that really gets at them, but they just don't talk about it. And you wouldn't know what kind of fears those people have unless you asked- you can't judge based on appearances alone.
