@@manuelsaavedra8081 there could be a number of reasons it lacks Bluetooth audio. It could be due to interference with controllers. Another could be due to licensing of appropriate codecs for low-latency Apt-X, having compatible headphones, etc. Its basically the same reason Wii didn't play DVDs, even though it had all the hardware to do it. They could issued an update, but they would have to pay for licensing on every system ever sold to provide such update. In short, I don't think its ever coming. If you want Bluetooth headphones, your best bet is to buy a Bluetooth adapter. I ended up biting the bullet and got a Homespot pro, which is pretty sweet. You could connect your phone and headphones at the same time. You can listen to music, use discord or even the Nintendo app (yuck), and do it in practical way. I absolutely love the adapter. As long as your headphones support low-latency aptx, you're good to go. It costs about $50 on amazon but it's worth it. It almost seems like everyone that owns a switch should have one. Its pretty awesome.

nah y'all just had your expectations set way too high from rumors. I can't think of a single time nintendo made an iteration that was significantly more powerful/better than the base console. The switch is still selling really well with no sign of slowing down, they'd be idiots to destroy that momentum by introducing a way better pro version that directly competes with the base version If they were to make a new SoC then they'd need a ton of chips and the fabrication of those chips would be impossible cause of the gpu shortage. And having a 720p screen is way better than a 1080p screen cause of the lower power draw and less strain on the gpu, the battery would drain way faster if it was 1080p Also there's no way the switch would be able to have 4k upscaling, any chip equipped with DLSS would be way too expensive for anyone to actually want. Plus the switch draws like 10-12 watts and the ps5 and xbox series x have a tough time outputting 4k even though they have a ton of power draw

Most of the frame rate issues come from thermal throttling. If the current Switch had better cooling there wouldn't be a problem. I've witnessed somebody hack a Switch and squeeze 60 fps out of the witcher 3. This new Switch does have better cooling thus potential for it's Nvidia chip to turbo. And as for 4k all you need is an upscaler chip in the dock. Even the current dock uses an HDMI 1.4 port which can do 4k 30fps.

I actually think the switch is pretty damn good in docked mode remember they using cartridges it’s only so much power that can be produced! Trust me that oled screen with thinner bezels will be great in handheld mode but docked it will pretty much be the same experience

Agree that if you play almost exclusively docked (like me) there's very little reason to buy this. The extra 32 GB and the network port is nice, but that extra space is tiny compared to what you can get with an SD card and if you really want to connect wired you already have some version of a USB network adapter. The extra features are nice and it's a good iteration that would be appealing if you don't already have one, but not worth abandoning your current one for. (I would definitely buy that dock if I ever need a second one, though.)

You might want to try powering off your Switch, reformatting it then see if it works again. If not, try using H2testw to see if your SD card is legit. If all else fails, it might be best to get a new SD card and see if it works with a new one

eh the display isn't going to be noticeably nicer, since you play in handheld it's normally further away enough to the point you don't notice details or a colour difference. in some games it could possibly help but not by a great amount since if you're playing something like split screen you might as well throw it on a big screen. the only time you might see a difference is if you're up close and personal which would just be uncomfortable. You do you but for an extra 50 you could spend it on something else like a game or an accessory. just a little idea for you.

Time and time again they are led to this narrative by news sites and leakers, and although some of them are true, the ones that aren't end up bringing a collective degree of disappointment. For $200 the switch lite has a better screen, it may be smaller but it packs more pixels per inch so you get a more crisper image, the oled model just stretches out the 720p image thus making the image more blurry and washed out , also you get to see those fat pixels too lol. Bigger is not always better.

For me, the only selling point for this new Switch to current Switch owners is the OLED screen. Want LAN functionality? Just buy a LAN adapter for your regular Switch. Want a better stand for tabletop play? Just buy one of the very sturdy third party stands out there. Want to double your Switch storage? Just buy a cheap MicroSD card. Unfortunately, the OLED screen is probably enough to get current Switch owners to spend $350 on top of what they've already spent on their Switch just to get that one perk.

Biger screen is always a plus especially if it maintains same size and form factor. @@ArdaSReal it depends, OLED screens (especially slightly older or less high end ones) can create "display smear" (i.e. when pure black parts of the image move quickly they seem to have a purpleish trail) but this is far less pronounced on better modern OLED's, also high refresh rate OLED's are crazy expensive, and finally they used to have really crappy response times when they first came to market but that's been solved since then, but all of those factors combined early on in oled's life to give it the reputation that it's bad for gaming but given the switch use case none of those are really going to be issues, sorry for the long comment, but display technology is a really nuanced subject, hope this helped :)

I'm disappointed not because I was expecting a 4K Switch Pro, but because it makes sense to make a more technologically powerful iteration at around this time, especially when there are developers working on games that are going to be on the PS5 and Series X that, like it or not, won't really want to downgrade those games on hardware that is equivalent to 7th gen consoles. Portability is nice, but it's not always an excuse to keep hardware the same.

I do understand that people are upset that the new switch wasn’t 4K or have improved specs but keep in mind, they were just rumours and leaks, so the fact people kept their expectations high over rumours is why people upset. Well it's definitely gonna look better for games that run at native res. Like mario kart 8 and smash. In fact, those games are gonna look gorgeous because of the quality of the colors and contrast. The pixel density won't look that different in those scenarios. But games that run below native res, are gonna be more vibrant, but if they looked blurry on the base switch, obviously they're gonna look slightly more blurry on the bigger one

This also means a pure green pixel has some slight red / blue so there's a decrease in saturation. OLED does not use a backlight, it can turn the individual pixels completely off for a pure black. Since it's a pure black and not a very dark grey, this means that a pure green pixel has no red / blue in it and will be a pure green. . . . so yes, colors and blacks are improved in OLED. I've seen OLED TVs, they are much better than LCDs.

I told everyone from the beginning that it was a new base model revision. That is what it is. The current switch is being discontinued and the oled will be the only model beside the Lite. The Lite will get it's OLED revision in fall 2023.

I play almost exclusively in handheld mode so this'll be good for me. My battery has also been pretty abused since the day it released so an upgrade there will be welcome as well. Upgraded speakers is icing on the cake. The cherry on top is going to be me hacking my OG switch to strip my games off the cart to put on my PC so when the emulator is updated in the future and works better I'll get the real "Pro" experience.

However a lower res image stretched out over a bigger screen will look worse. How noticable is to be determined though! Hopefully the screen quality makes up for it and then some. They are small enough it shouldn't be too big a difference. Idk I'm sure we'll see some side by sides before or around it's release.

My only issue is the framerate. If they just slightly upped the power so things wouldn't stutter so hard, I would be 100% fine with buying a new switch. I can live with 720p-1080p, adaptive resolution, etc. I am even fine with 30FPS, but I need that to be a stable 30FPS! I'm sick of the third party support coming at the cost of hard frame drops. Even some first party games can't handle it (Heck even the pokemon legends trailer had stuttering.) I thought they would have also re-designed the joycons by now too. Just enough so we won't have drift! But nope... guess I will mail my left joycon now.

Even my OG switch (circa 2018) has Bluetooth functionality. It's just locked down from Nintendo. I have my switch unlocked, and when I'm using homebrew software, my Bluetooth headphones connect just fine. I'm not sure if the OLED switch will have Bluetooth unlocked. Also, there are third party dongles that are sold which plug in the USB port and offer Bluetooth functionality. Not ideal, I know. But it'll work in a pinch.

Never used the kickstand. 6. Nintendo didn't change the joy cons. 7. Nintendo didn't change the D-Pad. 8. Already bought micro SD cards for storage like everyone else. 9. Play in docked mode 90% of the time like most Switch owners. All that us "hardcore" gamers were asking for was 1080p/ 60fps locked in docked mode and 720p / 60fps locked in handheld mode. That little upgrade in CPU and RAM would have guaranteed more 3rd party support and would have separated me from $400 in my wallet. This new model just made a convincing case for purchasing an Xbox Series S + 3 months of Game Pass. It did not sell anything Nintendo very well.

I think I’m going against the grain here but I’m probably gonna buy it and here are my reasons -I didn’t get the second switch revision (still have day one switch) -Because the OLED has just been announced, there’s a very low chance of them announcing a new one with better features, or a pro -Back-up in case I brick my switch when I try to homebrew it However, I’m disappointed with the fact there was **NO** performance change, if you got the 2nd revision, you have next to no reason to buy it I just wish Nintendo made this a pro and had it released in 2022 and announced this during E3 but there’s not much you can do
