Lovely discussion ladies. Btw Kaavish is the name of the two person band consisting of Maaz Maudood and Jaffer Zaidi. Kaavish has performed as a band in previous Coke studio seasons, but Jaffer Zaidi was also a member of the Coke Studio house band. He was even background/backup singer on some songs.

so the first item they presented, the one ali sethi sang is actually composed and sung by The great Asad Amanat Ali(late), Shafqat Amanat Ali's elder brother. He was shining star of Patyala Gharana. a very big loss to the industry 💔 he was a true gem. I'd suggest everyone to listen one of his item "Ghar Wapas Jab Ao gy Tum" The other item Nabeel Shoukat Ali presented is actually by Allah Ditta Loony wala. Allah Ditta sahab was a very unique punjabi folk singer who created wonders in punjabi and saraiki language. very fine singer with lot of high note range. and what coke studio has done is beyond imagination 😍 at the end if we talk about the great ali sethi, he has become a genre himself, it's unbelievable for me how great singer he is while he doesn't come from a "gayik" family. nabeel shoukat ali is very good singer with very beautiful soft texture

Thoroughly enjoyed the reaction from you both. I would just like to make a few additions. Nabeel Shaukat Ali is a classically trained singer who won the show 'Sur Kshetra'. It was a musical show between singers from Pakistan & India. He sang Sonu Nigam's 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' in the final to win the title. He also sang quite a few amazing songs in Coke Studio including 'Bewajah' and 'Mujh Se Pehli Si Muhabbat'. Kaavish is a band from Pakistan & the singer you are referring to is Jaffer Zaidi. He has composed quite a few songs in Coke Studio himself. If I may, since you like classical music, you shall give a chance to songs of Coke Studio from Season 7 to 10. They are Gems. Enjoy the music.

I know i am late to your reaction but if you do not know khawaja ghulam fareed was 19th century Myst and sufi born in chachan a place in multan a city in punjab Pakistan.His poetry is mostly dedicated towards the love of god and how desperately he needs the attention of the being he loves the most and wants to make him happy.The language of the poetry is not punjabi it's saraiki which is best love language i know of like meethi zuban. And in saraiki it doesn't matter the gender of the poet the poets will always refer to themselves as females because it was considered in that time that the love of a woman is far beyond the love of a man but that style is still present in saraiki poetry.His poetry sadly has been used in different songs and in Bollywood as well in way to express the love for opposite sex which it was not. this particular kalam was first composed by Asad Amanat Ali son of a famous 20th century singer Amanat Ali who sung the famous thumri moora saiyaan moose bole naa, and the elder brother of famous Bollywood singer Shafqat Amanat Ali. The other singer Nabeel shauqat Ali is also a son of a famous singer shauqat Ali and he is very talented singer he actually won a contest held between indian and Pakistani singers called surkshetra.Hope i was of some help ❤😊 and thank you for appreciating our singers. love from Pakistan.

Thank you for another insightful listening session. I have had the original on my favorite list since childhood days. I think you owe it to yourself to listen to the original version by Asad Amanat Ali Khan. He died young but there are very few classical singers that could so convincingly and effortlessly touch the melancholy in a listeners heart. There are some incredible singers from this time that are all but forgotten because they sang in Siraiki Language or the older forms of Punjabi. Hamid Ali Bela sang “Maey Ni Main Kinon Aakhan” and “Neeon La liya be Parrwah De Nal”. Also Nazar Ejaz qawwali “ Hara ve Jani Raat Reh Po” I wish more young people listened to and understood these songs.
