First off, amazing they got you those glasses with the prescription. Shoutout to Urban Samurai for that. Two pairs, including a more standard pair is huge. Lastly: My suggestion is the same suggestion I basically give to everyone who asks me how to make it on youtube - don't view chase. Don't worry about the money (which I know is tough). Worry about creating something you're passionate about. Creating content you would like to watch. Not copying others, just chasing trends, doing what ultimately inspires you as a creator. Do this, and you can't lose. Yeah, views may absolutely suck for awhile. 100 views a video, 2oo, whatever. But that can't be what matters. I know this sounds silly to many when I say it, because I am a full time youtuber and I do this for a living and obviously trending stuff is a bit of a chase for me. However, it's a chase I love because I am truly super passionate about Nintendo news and rumors/leaks and the discussions around it. Long before I was a youtuber I was doing this same stuff on reddit and twitter, forums, etc. It's amazing I was able to turn something I enjoyed and spent hours a day doing on various websites, into a career. But what I do, how I do it, isn't going to be for everyone. For as long as I've known you, I never thought you had the same passion for this type of content as I did. And that was fine. You enjoy conversing about it - and I am sure you will continue to through your own podcast and occasional spots on the Nintenbyte Podcast, but it's a lot different getting friends together to shoot the shit about news, then it is creating daily content on it when it doesn't interest you as much as other things. Thunderstash Gaming has some great advice on this that may help you. He doesn't look at the stats. He tries very hard to never look at likes, view numbers, subs, or even the money being made. Because in the end, he knows that will begin to influence him. Instead, he wants to keep making what he's passionate about. He loves reviewing games. Giving first impressions. And he loves a wide variety of content. So that's what he is going to do. In the time he has been cohost on my show, he has gone from like a 1k sub youtuber and blown up - he's about to hit 48k. And no, not every video he does pops off. 1.7k on his Call of Duty review. 8.4k for a video to see if he could still beat mike tyson in punch out (well timed I must say). 485 on giving first thoughts on Mario and Luigi. 1.5k on some halloween stuff. 1.7k on silent hill 2 review. 514 on ghostbusters 2, 225 on pumpkin jack - but then 7.6k on Echoes of Wisdom. The views are all over the damn place. And he just doesn't care. He could view chase and realize certain types of games and companies get him more views - but he doesn't want to do that. because if he leans heavily into that, he ends up losing his passion. And you know what? I bet those 200 view videos for him, will be a couple thousnad a year from now. And his videos that do well for him, will be 50k videos a year from now. Because he isn't going to waver from what drives his passion. I have watched you try so many times to get away from the kind of daily news videos I do. You give it a try or two, the views aren't there, so you retreat. Mike, push through. It could take a year. Two, three, etc. But what matters is doing what you love. If you do youtube for the money/views, you will lose your passion. I make daily Switch 2 videos because I just love talking about it. Just like ToTK, Mario Wonder, etc. I just really, really enjoy this stuff. So I built an audience that wants it. It's not just the algorithm - Zelda videos still perform better for me than Switch 2. It's also just the audience I built. Look at this like a fresh start. Starting from square one.

Apologies for the late reply and not super keeping up with your videos as I've been preoccupied with my own ups and downs aside using gaming as a distraction since first finding your channel and community. I remember you first making your discord when you had about 2k subs or something (forgetting), but I remember watching every video back then and your community was so kind and inclusive. You were always a kind and thoughtful soul in every one of your uploads such as this given you care a lot of about people including your community. However, I am sorry to hear how things have gotten worse such as you losing your job, health insurance, and having to rely on KZbin fully because of your disability. You've always been encouraging and I'm glad your community still has your back. It was very thoughtful and kind of this company to offer you glasses free of charge. What a blessing that've done some much positive for you and improved your life. I wish I could lend my services as a mediocre editor as I am currently trying to figure out my job situation but I hope someone is kind enough to take you up on that offer as you out of anyone deserve the free help for all you do for others. Hi Mike. I hope your father is also doing well. I just wanted you to know. I bought my first switch lite the other day based on your recommendation. Im a student and a nintendo fan since i was a kid. I havent had the time to go pick it up yet but ive been excited for over a week now. At first i was considering buying a retroconsole since i barely have any real time but watching your videos reminded me how much i loved playing nintendo games as a kid. Im from the generation that played gameboy color with a flashlight. Point is i have a nintendo switch now and it be cool f you could recomend games indie games with in game footage. Indie games are usually cheaper so t doesnt hurt my wallet to much. Im glad hear you got your glasses with prescription lens.... Pd i had a really though day yesterday and i reached home i slept for almost 13 hrs. I really found myself doubting humanity yesterday. Its nice to know that good things do happen. thanks for that.
