By doing so, the govt gave themselves the power to do what essentially what they want. If you study the 14th, you realize it took away states rights and sovereignty and Nationalized our govt. All state constitutions pledge allegiance and recognize the fed as the supreme authority which is backwards from the original constitution. The 14th did away with the original intent of the 2A, which was actual law, and required citizens of their State to carry a rifle. It has been twisted for us to believe we can have a gun for personal protection and not protection of our state…that’s why it’s now a felony to have a militia. Also they reinforced “taking away” gun rights with The Dick Law 1902-03…there’s more but that’s a start

Laws are often written intentionally to leave broad area for interpretation by the AG's office. Govt.'s (both state and fed) do it on purpose to get laws passed that they know wouldn't fly if they were finitely defined thus tying the hand of the executive. This is why its not a question of "her Laws", its that the laws are up to her interpretation. In a weird round about way though, it's could beneficial to have a rather anti-gun AG. As BS as it is, a Pro-gun AG also means less chances of getting unconstitutional laws to and hopefully knocked down by, SCOTUS. Again, as BS as it is just from the financial aspect alone, its better to have SCOTUS knock down laws than to have Congress change them or Executive not enforce them. Think about this for example, lets say that Congress were to pass a law (and POTUS sign it) taking Suppressors off the NFA (or go as far as getting rid of the NFA all together being that it, in and of itself is unconstitutional), well that's great and all *BUT* if and when Anti-gunners gain back control of Congress and the Executive, guess what they'll try and possibly succeed at putting it right back in place. On the other hand, if SCOTUS knocks it down as being unconstitutional, it's pretty much impossible to be put back in place at a future date.

As for the long gun portion, while it was generally legal to transport across the country, some localities had restrictions on different firearms that they could (maybe did) prosecute.

The FBI and CIA need to go, as well. The FBI's job can be done at the local level without federal involvement, and the CIA's job can be split up between the local level and then within the various military branches.

I'm a pro 2A lefty. The same can be said for most of my friends and family. In order to protect this right, we must acknowledge the fact that there is a gun violence problem. We must also present statistically supportable solutions to that problem. There ARE answers. On the flip side, we could benefit greatly from remaking the image of gun culture. As someone who has been making folks on my end of the political spectrum more comfortable with the idea of guns, I know their ire can be tamped down and even extinguished.

I live in WA State there is no due process to our redflag law. Someone fills out an affidavit that says they think at the time you may be a danger to yourself or others. This gets ran by a judge (so many are extreme liberals here) and the judge signs an order for police to seize any and all firearms. A hearing is supposed to be scheduled for the victim (person who has had their 2A stripped without charges, arrest or convictions) is 15 business days so within 3 weeks to a month. This is an administrative review by the judge who signed the order, no legal representation can even be present, to decide if the order should stand. If (and when has it not been) the order remains in force, you must wait a year+ before you can apply to have your rights reinstated (to the same judge who issued the order) just as if you were a convicted felon trying to get your rights back. If denied you must wait another year to apply again. There is also no provision for your guns to be returned once they have been seized, they can even be destroyed, you can only get your rights back.
