Hears a scream - first instinct is to run towards it. This guy's a real øne! No good deed goes unpunished.

It seems like the guy could have made an insanity plea. He was lost in the woods for days, dehydrated and probably was hallucinating.
@C-SD4 жыл бұрын
He probably could. Insanity plea just gets you chucked in a mental hosp. You're not guilty, but you are considered too dangerous to be among the rest of the population. (Usually) either way you get locked up.
@Britishhick3 жыл бұрын
Better than prison tho. Personally I'd rather be in a mental institution than prison for life.
@Britishhick3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's what I expected. He was starving, likely extremely dehydrated, injured, possibly delirious from exhaustion, and freezing. Just getting too cold screws up your brain, and it doesn't take much to reach that point. I don't see how he could be convicted of murder under those conditions, too many extenuating circumstances that can negatively effect his ability to think properly. The end of this one just bothers me. Whether the windigo was real or a figment, it's certainly a situation that demands more investigation and consideration.
@Dice-Z Жыл бұрын

@Britishhick prison is far better than being locked down in a mental ward. At least in prison you can hope for parole, but an insanity plea could keep you locked up 2x-3x longer.
@RelativelyBest2 жыл бұрын
It seems unlikely he would get a double life sentence for both killings. The second was clearly manslaughter at the most, and he could easily argue he was hallucinating and didn't know what he was doing. So, unless they can definitively prove he murdered the girl, his story is basically: Found an injured woman in the wilds, something killed her, then stalked him over the course of four days, after which he accidentally killed a park ranger believing his life was in danger. Also, the investigation would have turned up oddities that corroborated his story, such as his tent being dragged from his campsite (why the hell would he do that?) and the woman's body bearing claw marks.

I believe that there was no monster at all. The character was just mentally ill or overburdened with stress and anxiety(he mentioned that relating to his private life). He left all that and escaped into the woods, however, the whole ordeal of his everyday life took a toll on his mental state. It s possible that the monster was just a figment of his own imagination (the disappearance of his tent maybe be in fact his own action- he drag the tent to the spot and killed the girl). The girl may have been just lost but he was sure it was the monster which caused her distress. Finally, he said that not all monsters live in the woods referring probably to himself as his deteriorating mental condition turned him into a monster.

Ok, hold on here. I certainly hope there will be more to this story, as there are too many unanswered questions. How did the ranger become this creature? Why was the main charachter charged with double homicide? It was a kill or be killed situation, ergo, self defence. Apparently, the author of this story must have not thought it through well enough. That is not to say it is a bad story. Personally, it has potential to be a great story with further developement. I would think at least one more episode, possibly two. At least the title wasn't a short paragraph...

Lots of innocent people have gone to prison. Whether he did or didn't kill the girl, he clearly killed the ranger in front of a witness. By that point he was hallucinating and delerious but a jury may not let you off just because of that especially when he stabbed the man over and over again. There may have been a real monster that attacked and killed the girl or it could have been a psychotic break and he killed her too

Title: "Not All Monsters Live In the Woods" Most of the story: **generic story of a monster in the woods** Me: "Okay, when do we find out that the girl or the main character is actually a serial killer or unholy abomination?" [SPOILERS AHEAD] Honestly, that would have been a much better twist. Sure, it would have been painfully predictable, but at least it would have made the title make more sense. Is this monster a fabrication of the guy's sick mind and he IS actually a murderer? That'd make sense, but it feels like the story is trying to aim for something else. Skinwalkers and wendigos are two different creatures. Skinwalkers are creatures from Navajo folklore. They're evil shaman or medicine men that take the skins of animals to shapeshift into them. Wendigos are creatures from Algonquin folklore. (Algonquin are original natives of southern Quebec and eastern Ontario in Canada.) Wendigos are creatures that were once human but have been corrupted into monsters by consuming human flesh. The creature in this story sounds like it is probably the Rake, which is another completely separate creature lol.

This is the shittiest twist ending ever, a lawyer would have at least tried to argue the f****** Insanity angle and they never even explained how the hell he killed the other person. this is a really horrible attempt at a twist ending where the narrator ends up being actually evil, especially because he's really thought he was using self defense.
