Hi Sandy, It was a glorious day for sure, even if we were a little pink by the end of it. We bought the boat back Monday morning as soon as the bridges opened. We needed the break, and the boat performed brilliantly except for the tiller, I'll look at that later in the week. You have a great week too.

Hey Cyndi, Del is like a bad penny lol. Was hoping to catch a beer with him but think he went North. Yes, you are right, we are now starting to ease back into life even though there is still much to do. We cut our work week down now to three days each as well, mainly as Moonshine isn't bleeding us dry lol. It nice to get to use her more and we have some trips in planning. Have a great week.

It was nice to have the weekend off. Our boating experience was about 4 years on the Kennet and Avon, doing stiff locks and opening even worse bridges. Where you are it looks like it all magically happens for you!!! Can I ask a question that I have always wanted the answer to? Going on rivers, everyone says wear a lifejacket and have an anchor, but how much chain do you need on the anchor? How do you know how deep the river is?

Hi Ann, yes all the bridges are controlled here, but we cant wait to get up on the narrows, may be next year now, but we are planning a trip on the river. And on that note, a crew save type life jacket would be recommended. If not for everyone the guy thats most likely at risk when mooring and in case of an emergency. But imagine if the worst happened and no life jackets were available. On the anchor, you can find the maximum depth of a river you'll be on. The chain tends to be about 5m and the weight of the chain depends on the anchor. The rope at least double the depth, but some recommend 5 x the depth.
