you gotta be loving that beast pulling that ripper this fall...bet ya hardly know it's back there. You cant beat the traction ya get from those big fwd's. Tires look great on it too. And yes, I definitely had a few of "those days" this fall 🙃. On the bright side...you've got combines to clean up.....YAAAYYYYY
@iafarmer Жыл бұрын
Yes it is actually fun to rip when you have plenty of power but it still makes it snort where its good and packed. Fortunately we had good weather the last week or so ive been able to get stuff cleaned up 👍

Harvest went well this year, especially after a D4 drought here in northeast Iowa. This farm went more than 4 months with no rain. The corn went 193 bu average in these clay hill with 15.9% moisture content. I think we survived on subsoil moisture this season. If that doesn’t get replenished we will be in for disaster next year should the drought continue.

Thats pretty incredible. Ive never seen 4 dry years in a row here so im wondering whats in store for 2024. We keep pulling a rabbit out of our hat so i guess i will stay cautiously optimistic
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Жыл бұрын
@@iafarmer , it can’t hurt to be optimistic. We can take the blame for a lot of things but not for the weather.

Aj hope your Thanksgiving was thankful with delicious food n fellowship .Check out Sawyer Brown. Six days on the road going to make it home tonight. Oh twist volume knob off . When you question someone's farming practices they get growly like snowdrifts ( snowflakes) going to stop right here. You, wife n kiddos go Christmas shopping n put up them decorations

I think this is the second year in a row that I didn't wish I had another 100 acres to harvest. I'm getting old enough that the rat race ain't fun anymore. Now that dad don't haul grain, I got that all to do on my own so I just stay tired year round now. LOL

Years like this when we’re playing in the mud I definitely don’t wish there was more

It gets to be alot when you have to take on things alone. This year i actually enjoyed fall tillage for once since i had help. Id bring a truck down and haul a few loads but itd be quite the commute lol and im still waiting for my truck to get out of the shop 🤦♂️

Thanks, i bet it makes you cringe a little seeing ground get ripped like this. Id like to get into some stiptill on a couple farms that i think it would work good on in the next few years if i find the right deal on a bar

This year has seemed to be like one of those years. I have quit a list of things to fix. Hope things work out for you.

The leak on your tractor..............is that related to what was wrong with it when you first got it?
@iafarmer Жыл бұрын
No that was actually the radiator on the tractor. I was aware this is a common expensive fix on these tractors but my luck it started leaking the first year i have the darn thing. The whole front axle has to come out to put new bearings and seals in
@404nitro Жыл бұрын
@@iafarmer sorry to hear that.

Break downs and stupid shit. Ive been fairly lucky this yeat with break downs mostly being simple little pidly shit and that means next year im probably in for it. Nothing aint cheap no more to fix in the last 3 years farming hasnt been much fun and i dont think its going to improve.
@iafarmer Жыл бұрын
Its definitely become a very expensive hobby. Seems you have to make your living elsewhere if you want to make any money farming. I think next year things will be more profitable since fertilizer and chemical prices have come down some
@kolewiebensohn Жыл бұрын
@@iafarmer Yeah that is true, but if the drought persists then we won't have nothin to sell next year anyway it will all be insurance. I'm thinking a lot of these big farms will go broke the ones that rely on the bank to run, here in the next few years.
