The wallpaper in the dining room definitely looks art deco. So even though the chandelier is not art deco per se ...it somehow blends into the room so well. And while the dining room chandelier is slender long and elegant it does however obscure the gorgeous beautifully carved wood that encases the arch- mirror. Could you ever find a slender chandelier that is even more narrow at the top ...or lower it so the upper features of the wood frame around the mirror are more clearly seen? Perhaps instead of strung crystals at the top it could be more gilt filigree that can be peered through to things on the other side more easily. Perhaps one day you can find an art nouveau chandelier with curvy gilt lilies or flowers. If you use the dining room chandelier in the hallway ...leave it open for a bigger chandelier one day, when you find the perfect one.

Carole - a suggestion to try the chaise on the diagonal in the right hand corner by the window and move the table with the horse head lamp all the way down flat against the wall near the cub board door. Carol, I had the same thought as you concerning the gold caps and bases on the stairway spindles a while ago when you were thinking of what color to do the spindles in, but was hesitant to mention it because X71 times is a lot of work ;) Adrian, I think the chandelier in the dining room would look grand in the hallway. I always thought it was a little formal for such a warm and woodsy space as the dining room. It would kind of depend what was available in the local shops ;) It'd take a bit of hunting, but I think something with a little less crystal would look better in the dining room.

You really should consider a beautiful comde/chest for the horse head lamp to sit on... The current table doesn't have enough weight to it... Also... I feel the chandelier in the hallway needs to also have some serious weight and size to it... Which would allow it to be the focal point from every direction!!! Consider the same size as the Salone...the hall space definitely has the height and circumference to accommodate a chandelier of that size... What's that saying: GO BIG, OR GO HOME...

Re: the shutters hitting the wall. You could cut some thin, clear Perspex and glue it to the wall once it's been repaired. Not sure how much light you have in that corner when the shutters are closed and it's gloomy outside, but the Perspex shouldn't be visible. Well, not any more than the dents. 😄 I don't know how the two of you stay motivated. Just looking at the floor and all the work the ceilings and walls needed made me want to take a nap. For about the next three years. 🤨 I would, however, love to work outside in your garden and turn the lavoire into a goldfish pond or pool for Carole (instead of the plastic one). Maybe some small, bubbling, solar fountains... You're right. We've all seen Terry dig a little harder than that. 😂😂

Your chandelier is a traditional Victorian style dining room chandelier (a “closed” style with a dome at the bottom similar to the one you just recently saw in the antique shop with the blue glass dome), and for that reason I would leave it in the dining room. You need an open style chandelier for the hall. I love the paint scheme idea you have for the staircase spindles, the gold detail will make it pop. I can’t wait to see what the well and lavoir are going to look like when finished, sounds like it will be a really beautiful spot. I love the idea of emphasizing them as they are original details.

IMO, that sofa belongs in that orangerie I proposed once upon a time 😂❤ About the chandelier, I’m undecided & I would recommend holding of on moving it until you’ve also finished all upstairs renovations. Talking from experience here… I have moved with a (modern) chandelier from country A, to B, then C & now finally D. Over the years, I have had to restock new prisms from the maker in country A twice. I mean, these things - even brand new - are fragile beyond measure & 😢 if you move it prematurely & damage it.

I think I might like something that relates a bit more closely to the sconces, but I am not exactly positive where it will hang, so there is that! Lol. I love the horse lamp, so great, but I also firmly feel it is too heavy for the table. I know it is nice to use something that you have, but I think it needs a nice solid dresser under it. Plus a small dresser would be handy in the hallway. All those drawers for stuff.
