I don't know where to start. I have been a fabricator machinist, tinkerer since a child. Now 64 employed in a job I enjoy going to because of my ability to repair, replace, modify parts and mechanisms to bring the companies vital equipment back to life again. At 16 started an apprenticeship in England. Five years later released on the world as a millwright. This is the point from which I view this man work. Almost made me shed a tear. All that I learned, all that I have to fight against, in comments of "Oh there he goes can't have sharp edge" "you don't have to do all that". This incredibly skilled man. Using mostly tools available to all home hobbyists. Vindicated that which gives me, my identity. Skill, experience, care, no short cuts File it smooth, break that edge, a hole isn't round until it's been chamfered. Used to be the norm. Trying to pass anything on is a near impossible task. Here I saw a man who picked a machine he's been thinking of for a while. Saw mechanisms around him, hmmm! That would work for ?. Prepared and set to work producing a thing of both form and function. Paint an option. Sometimes leaving it exposed. Gives it that oily rag clean. That has its own pleasing finish. Damn! I wish that cursing was allowed . This punctuation make comments more real. Thankyou I'm so f*&cking moved. By your abilities, and commitment to give appearance and ease of function to your work. It can still be kept alive.

@@MichaelGraham-i5q you lose perpendicular when you resize holes with a drill like that. You also lose dimensional circulatory. Why are you trolling?
@MichaelGraham-i5q8 ай бұрын
@@AndrossUT Hey there. I read and gave thought to your reply. When drilling and tapping hole the tolerances when understood. It becomes clear that maximum thread / effort in cutting is at 75% thread formation. The closer to 100% thread form you want to achieve the effort required and risk of tap breakage increases that it becomes irrational to attempt this for a minimal ( off hand 10% increase holding). Therefore if drilling with a 5/16" Size drill for a 3/8" 16 thread thread is a leaning to slightly larger hole within the 75% aim. If using the power drill . Perpendicular eyeballing of the hole to be formed through what appears to be 3/8". My conservative estimate of drill length about 4 in. This says 3
