Having a close call with someone in a parking lot is not an option lol Plus I have neighbors to think about so I don’t like to start it up too early in the morning. I mostly save it for the track now and I’m always changing stuff or have new mods or adjustments to feel out, so it’s always like WhAt WaS tHaT sOuNd? @@24sevenracing tune out the strange noises. As you've experienced, its tough to enjoy a car when all the minute sounds are top of mind. I think it comes down to trust. Trust that your machine will do its best for you, and trust that if there are any issues that do arise, you will be able to handle them. I own a 1998 Version 5 STI which is also known for reliability issues. Before I used to stress, but then I realized all my extensive maintenance and care (warming up the engine, staying below 3k when the engine is cold, turbo timing etc), is enough to trust in it. People around me in the JDM Subaru scene complain about reliability all the time, yet I have put 55000km + on my car without hiccup, sans a cracked upper rad hose.

I’m currently in the same boat as you, Ben. My Lexus IS300 has been the epitome of what my dream car has been about. But now since I’ve thrown a second transmission in it, I’ve been through so much trauma, and I’m happy to even be driving it this time, even if I’m missing a 5th gear. I’m on to transmission 3, Genuine TRD Altezza Bumper, Vertex Fenders. It scares me. But at the same time, I love it so much, I fear of having to let it go someday if anything were to happen. My advice : Cherish your car as it is, and as you go. And the more mistakes you make, or the more you work on it, the better you will be at being able to take care of it, and improve on your handiwork over time. Learn how to better care for it as it cares for you too. An enthusiast ownership is a relationship between a driver and his car. And I see nothing stopping us from achieving our dreams. Continue to grow, I’ll keep watching.

Keisuke Takahashi is proud! The car is turning out great so far. Don't worry about the small stuff. Scratches and stuff happens. That's just normal wear and tear (unfortunately). Just do the best you can. And honestly, I can understand why you feel some pressure for the FD. There's just something about that car. If you do something wrong to it, you feel like you're screwed. Good luck with the rest of the build!

The car is looking and shaping up to be incredible! Some people may not have your taste (I certainly do) but seeing your passion for the project in the video is a whole element to the story of this car that goes beyond just "what's that Mazda look like". Fantastic as always.

It's super cool to see two very different builds of one of my favorite cars on this channel. I'm excited to see where Ben² take their FDs.

I love it man! This is your car, you decided what you want on it. At the end of the day everyone will say different and have there own opinions, but it is your car, your ideas and your design. In my two sense, I love it. Always been a big Mazda fan. Owned a miata for 12 yrs. I love Rx7 FDs and I wish I can own one in the future as well. And rotary is by far bad ass motors.

When you talking about wrap I was hoping you picked yellow! I have that same yellow on my M3 and it's beautiful! And don't ever worry about what other people will think because no matter what you'll never please everybody, so just please yourself

Don't like the wing and rear lights, but this is my personal taste. The color and wheels looks awesome, very nice build you have and great video =D

I know this is long after the video but I truly understand the stress part. I recently obtained a dream car I never thought I’d have the opportunity to own, and man the first 6 months I was so anxious about every imperfection and worried about driving it hard. It just takes time to realize your car is YOURS and treat it how you want to. And most importantly, drive your car!

I kinda cried when you gave that speech at the end about being stressed after accomplishing your goal because I’m about to go through a similar thing with my 99 mustang. It ain’t my dream car, but I have big plans for it. Great video guys.

Great video man. I have owned my fd since 98 and I understand all those emotions you are feeling. There will be some lows but the highs are so high that you will love being a fd owner. It is your car and it looks great. My rx7 is a little more oemish on the outside but this is your car. Drive it and remember a rotary should get red lined every once and a while. The only thing I am not sure about is that synthetic oil. I have always 20w50. Also always premix. I have the oem metering pump so I do .50 once per every gallon. P.s dont believe those fake reports of rotarys being unreliable. Continue good maintenance and you will have no problems
