The Staples are good, HOWEVER, I go one step further and grab either a Fibreglass or Square Metal Mesh and use that on both sides, melting it into the original plastic bumper with "extra" plastic melted over top of. One last thing to consider, which I do as well, I take usually 60 to 80 grit sandpaper, and make sure to rough up both sides of the NEW replace piece as well as the portion of the bumper where it will attach to before I lay over the Fibre or Metal Mesh. You will find you get a much stronger mechanical bond this way.
@philgray1023Ай бұрын
Great idea. We get this aluminium mesh that they use for fly screens it moulds in place and would be excellent for this.

You stole my Thunder, but. I can add that a Cable/Zip tie, can used for the weld. Other things I have seen on You Tube is Cotton Balls and Super Glue and repair it like a Fibreglass repair.
@edeaglehouse2221Ай бұрын
The hot glue gun can be used to melt the plastic but the hot melt glue won't hold. You actually have to fuse the joint. Low temperature glue guns may not get hot enough to melt the plastic.

How is the strength? Can it flex like the original or will it snap right off because if the heat is too high it changes the plastic? The do make plastic welder kits which aren't that expensive if you use them all the time and they include weld rods for the type of plastic you are using.

They sell plastic "welder" kits with a bunch (hundreds?) of straight, angled & wiggly staples to do this exact type of repair for $20-$40. For a one-off, this video shows a good technique. But if there's a largish crack, or a crack in an angle-piece, the kits are hard to beat. Saves you the trouble of making the tool(s) and improvising staples.. And, after this one repair, you're ready for the next 50 or more repairs. 😁
