This is always how it's been with me with my family. I practice the basics and consider my self nothing special. When I'm amongst those who free mix, listen to music and have different banter to me. They automatically treat me like an outsider as soon as I walk in. I never lecture them either or act proud or arrogant around them, yet their spirit becomes disturbed around me.

I was a hijabi for a long time so Ive always known what it feels like to exist as a stranger every where i went. But with the recent increase in islamophobia due to anti-Palestine sentiments, my brothers are now noticing more microaggressions at work towards them, and theyve never faced that before. I just recently had this conversation with my brother and reminded him of this hadith. I told him, as much as we try to hide our Muslim identity, it'll never work. We will always be seen as the other, so instead wear it proudly.

It hits different when I’m watching this from my bed in my apartment in Medina. Where I fit in perfectly. Alhamdulillah I can’t stress enough that us Western Muslims need to make Hijra. It was not meant for us to live indefinitely in non Muslim lands. Get your education, get your money, get your citizenship (it does come with perks generally speaking) and find. Assalaamu alaikum sister! May Allah make it easy for you, ameen. I’m a revert and was very nervous about wearing hijab to work. I found that most people respected me and after a moment of surprise, they just didn’t care. If you don’t want to jump in with both feet, you can start small by wearing more modest, loose clothes and work your way up to covering your hair and neck. Watch some videos here on how to wrap the scarf and you will feel more at ease. I will make du’a for you. 🧕🏻💕
@raya9283Ай бұрын
@@sarahjs Allah yekhalleeki Habibty, thank you for your Duaa and your advice Sister, may Allah s.w.t. reward you. Yes, I do wear very modest clothing since years, long skirts and long sleeves, no cleavage ever of course, hair up in a bun, almost no make-up. I do look more like a conservative Christian though, I guess, because I don’t wear a scarf over my hair. I tried to wear a scarf for one full month during Ramadan to “try” whether I can commit to wearing it full-time. I have to say it was very hard for me to finish these 30 days, astaghfirAllah.

You are right, the hedonistic part of Western society will see muslims as people who do not fit in. However, as a muslim you do not necessarily need to be seen as “weirdo”. You can live on the deen and become respected by parts of the society because of your high morals/virtues. The hadith about the ghuraba is not to be seen as a call to live on the verge of society. Actually muslims should try to play an integral part in society - without sacrificing their morals of course. Allah knows best.

Everything you said is so accurate except two things :A. Islam in not a religion. Religion is mainly a written political book to control and monitor people such as Judaism Christianity Hinduism and such. Islam is a way of life and it’s even mentioned in Quran where ALLAH describes Islam as DEEN and Christianity and Judaism as MILLA which actually translates into “tendency” and B) we are NOT slaves. This is a dangerous translation we are 3ibad NOT 3abeed. A servant is rewarded and a slave is never rewarded. ALLAH reward us with good things versus if we were slaves it will be really messed up. Please like my comment so this person can see my comment and correct himself. Thank you

Mashallah. Sometimes we need to be in darkness to appreciate the light. Allah has promised that if the son of Adam comes with a mountain of sins sky high but genuinely asks for forgiveness then He will forgive them. I'm not sure of what you are going through personally but I can tell you that the second you try to take a step towards that light (Allah's guidance) the shaytan slams the breaks, turns his car around and comes flying down the highway to get to you before you take that step and uses every trick in his arsenal to convince you that this is bad. May Allah protect us and keep us and you on the straight path

Why do you think that is ? Just listened to David Goggins saying the same thing, trying to fit in is useless. Is it just about being a Muslim or is it about choosing a different path from the majority, a path of struggle to better oneself ?
@Themuslimhighlander2 ай бұрын
It is not about choosing the difficult path. It's that the path you need to choose is difficult only because the norm is not to take that path. This is a good point you bring up though.
