These guys were schooled in the blues and gave recognition to the blues writers that they took some of their songs from. Based out of Macon, Ga and were part of Capricorn Records. They would go and have jams in the local park for free. Had two drummer, on based off of Jazz and then a traditional rock drummer. Had two guitars and a bass. Gregg Allman was the vocals and keyboard player. A bunch of hippies back in the 60’s. When we would go to Macon we always wanted to drive over and see if we could see the hippies. Different times, so glad I was able to have those experiences in the 60’s and 70’s.

This music crosses over many genres. Blues, soul, gospel, country and driven by rock with two drummers and two lead guitars. Most importantly played be professional musicians and sang by Gregg who had the voice of all those genres mentioned previously. This band was second to none

This song is in admiration of soulful black blues music from years ago. A lot of people used to say the white man stole the black mans soulful music and capitalized on it but that’s that furthest thing from the truth. Its all about how the white musicians loved the black folks music. The only problem was back then the record companies didn’t want to give the black artist what they deserved for obvious but none the less stupid reasons and white bands like the Allman Brothers didn’t give a shit and they honored black music through the music they created since record executives couldn’t because fear of public backlash. Be proud brother this style of music came from the black race. And that’s something to be very proud of because all these white boys did was play this style in nothing less than honor and admiration of black artists that didn’t get the notoriety they deserved because of a racist nation back then. Music is love, music brings people together, music is magic. I’m glad you enjoyed this. Btw…they were kicked out of some venues and even jailed in Mississippi because one of their two drummers was black but they stood byJaimoe through thick and thin.

I lived through the "racist time" and my uncle who was a federal judge and desegrated schools, bbisses and the airports was hated for it. The KKK bombed his mothers house on Haleyville Alabama. He lived in Montgomery Alabama and federal Marshalls had to follow him around for 22 years for protection. And we're cacausian.

Crunchy vocals. Dirty, nasty guitars, ba-loooozy tempo. One of my favorite ABB songs. The reason it starts right up is that the song (another great one) "Don't Want You No More" leads right into it.

My age group, man we had the best music of any generation, and I say that not being disrespectful of todays music, but we were so eclectic in the music we listened to because we had it all. Rock, southern rock, blues, Motown and it was endless. I’m glad that young adults are trying it out now.

See, nothing against rap or r&b, but I think some folks have been conned into thinking that other genres of music are only for.... Which is really a shame in a lot of regards. See, I came up when MTV would actually play music videos so you got everything from rock to metal to rap to pop to dance to.... And it was sprinkled throughout the day. Then you had all of their great specialty shows if you wanted a deep dive into a particular genre like Headbangers Ball for metal/hard rock, Yo! MTV Raps for hip hop, Club MTV for your dance music.... My parents never really listened to a lot of music in the house but their record collection was a mix of Mowtown, Elvis, and probably a few others sprinkled in. So basically man, check out what you like, listen to different stuff, and don't let social stigma keep you from listening to certain types of music. You might not like every song, style, or band, but you at least gave it a shot.
