@@RockyANDParisOFFICIALThe horse might still panic, but an important thing this training teaches is for the to understand that they should walk through the flames rather than stay where they are. Because they've done it in a controlled situation like this, it installs a behavioural pattern. Most horses die in stable fires with open doors because they are too scared to move. This lowers that chance. I'd at least rather have my horse panic and run outside than panic and die.

The thing is, most riders are gentle and kind to their horses. We have just been bombarded with horror stories of the trash "training" methods by elite level riders. At least, that's what I believe. I grew up in Pony Club and they have sent countless people to the Olympics. But they have always taught this type of encouragement and that riding is a partnership, once you're on your horse, science has found the spinal nerves from you to the spinal nerves of the horse become a steady flow of energy to and from.......God I am explaining the article terribly. My point is, trust the horse, trust the rider. Patience and confidence shows the horse they're ok. ❤

Agreed A neighbor told a story about being caught in an outer pasture by an unexpected and fast moving wildfire. She had been out checking on the pregnant mares and the new moms with their foals. There had been little time to react, and nowhere to escape. All of the mares circled the little ones to protect them, and she said that they herded her into the center as one of the young ones to be shielded. She was crying when she related the memory. They lost some horses that day that had been injured too badly. But those mares saved her life. After growing up in dry rural areas of California, I'm never flippant about fire dangers.

Even here in the mountains of Washington State, we've been seeing nasty wildfires every year for the last 7-ish years, maybe more. We had a wildfire in 2022 that burned from June until October. I've heard it became an underground fire and is technically still burning, but I haven't checked the facts yet. Take it with a grain of salt. So even up here where it's cooler, in my opinion, training a horse to handle fire is a great idea. I'll bring it up with my horse trainer, maybe we'll add fire desensitization to our list of goals to work toward.

No definitely not abuse. Honestly, this is great training! Like others were saying this is training for something like a stable fire. She gave the horse a pat and wasn’t being aggressive when she tried the first time. A calm horse during a fire is great. Think about it this way. What if you have multiple horses in that stable? You want to move quickly in order to move them all, the calmer the horse the better. Also, to those saying “the horse will freak out in the actually situation” of course the horse will. But the horse will have seen fire and felt the heat. THE horse in all will be a lot calmer.

It’s a shame not every horse goes through this training. It may be hard for them at first but it will save their life if they’re in that situation. Barns and Stables are very likely to catch on fire more than buildings. It’s a necessity that the horse knows how to react and how to remain calm, saving time for both the human and the horse itself. Especially since the horse memorizes the training, other horses who haven’t gone through that training are likely to see fire for maybe the first time in their life and be very unaware of what it is.
@waffle_6443 ай бұрын
It’s not training and nothing can prepare them for the real thing. Desensitization doesn’t make a horse ignore their natural instincts.
@myselfiris2 ай бұрын
@ It can train them to learning how to take better control of them. No animal can’t be trained to control their instincts talking about “householded” animals. Taking this training is better than the horse seeing fire for the first time not knowing how harmful it is and how it works. If you teach it to acknowledge what it is, if it sees it again it will be easier to remain calm. Of course horses will not be the calmest and still follow their instincts, but they’re just like any other animal being trained. And horses aren’t dumb, even in their panic they will memorize the slightest bit of their training and react better than it would it. If what you said was completely true then horses wouldn’t even be rideable, if you ride a horse for the first time you’ll spook it, it’s their natural instincts of threat, but by time the horse is trained and is able to do more than just letting you ride it, that’s how it works.

With the way the world is today, this could be life saving training. Very important to proceed at the horses level to build needed trust.

Even though when leading it you have much more control over the head so they don't jump on the horse rider 🐎

Hello! I understood it is not cruelty and is in fact important training in some situations, but I'd suggest using something to keep the tail safe, thats all!

To a point, I completely DIS-agree But, I understand that they probably have not owned horses and don't understand the meaning of the video. For those who don't understand: this is super helpful training. if the stable managed to catch fire, the horse knows what to do. this is completely normal! :D

For the people hating they would never abuse a horse and drag them through fire they are clearly teaching the horse to get out of the fire quickly if there ever is one pls don’t say something unless you no what you talking about or unless you have proof Ty 😊

Great idea to make sure your horse will be ale to quickly and calmly get out of a fire, but it makes no sense to be on the horse or get them to walk through such a large fire to start off with. Its also incredibly dangerous to have so many dangly things around, such as a person on the horse and the tail not put up. Now you might say "Oh but they wont have their tailed tied during a real fire!" but this isn't a real fire. Especially since the pony was so spooky going through, it could've very easily lit itself on fire. And you would NEVER in a real fire have the time to mount your house, you immediately want to get the horses out. It would've also been nicer for the pony if someone was guiding it through instead of forcing it whilst on its back. This is a great idea for training though and its great that youre getting your pony used to it!

I totally agree with the people who are saying it’s not abuse. Especially the pinned comment. If there was a fire a calm horse is much better than a panicked horse and you injured. It’s important to train the horses to be calm.

@@Paige_Equestrian24 still its good to tie the horses tail up even if its training to not cause a situation, but yeah i agree his tail probably wont be up during a fire but safety during practice is fine

Regardless of a fire in the Stables or not this makes them less easily scared in general. They do this with police horses for example. Can also have plastic tarp to ride over or other weird stuff.

@waffle-f8j it prepares them so they don't freak out and throw off their owner. Of course we will all freak out, but if a horse is shown to be calm in a situation like that, then it's possible. It's not any different with humans.

Yes this is a really good thing to teach horses but when you are teaching them not to be afraid of it you yourself should never look at it. Your horse can tell you’re looking at it and that makes them second guess if it’s safe or not. They trust you to judge that and if you’re looking down at it that means your horse should to
