I was a kid in the '60's when '59 Chevy's were common all over the place. Impala's, Bel Airs, Biscayne's you name it. El Camino's station wagons they were everywhere. I walked to grade school & on the way were 2 '59 Chevy Bel Air 4 door sedans in the driveway I'd stop & check them out. A few doors down I saw a black '62 Corvette in the driveway. When I got to the school I'd see '60 Chevy taxicabs & kids dropped off to school in a '55 Chevy Nomad wagon. How cool is that ?? Everyday was a free car show. Across the street where I lived my neighbor drove a '59 Parkwood Station wagon, another neighbor drove a red '59 El Camino parked on the side of the street. My next door neighbor & best friends aunt drove a black '57 Chevy Nomad with red interior stunning car. That was a great time & my dad drove a '57 Chevy Bel Air 4 door sport Coupe he bought it new. My first car in 1977 was a '59 2 door Hardtop Impala & i was obsessed with the car. The 50's & 60's was an exciting time for cars .

That was fun. My first car was a beige '59 Bel Air four door sedan. It had the 283 with four barrel, three-speed with overdrive. My Pop bought it for me for my high school graduation '68. He got it inexpensively because it was dented. I picked a bumper from a junk yard, and installed it myself. I had the dents repaired, and the whole thing painted, at Earl Scheib. That was back when the paint job was $29.95. I bought seat covers, and had them installed, at Sears. I was very happy and proud.

It ain't fun to have your brakes go out on you on the freeway, like I did once. Lucky for me I had a dual chamber m/c.

I just installed a new master cylinder. It been a trouble free single system for 63 years now, because I maintain it and keep an eye on the system, so I doubt I'll ever change it. Well Howard, at least Martin's car doesn't have those dice on the mirror....hint hint! Looks like a perfect padded dash too! How is that even possible? Martin stated he needs new exhaust. He wants to put duels on it. I don't think he had a dash pad.... it was finished correctly in a dull paint so it docent reflect on the windshield in the sun. @OldCarAlley Жыл бұрын
I think its the way cars had there tires and wheels tucked into the wheel wells making them look small, unlike todays cars having huge wheel well openings, often with the wheel almost hanging out from them. Both cars have the correct size tires and wheels that the GM factory used.
