I watched the film today and enjoyed it and loved the twist at the end. :-) We don’t get many movies set during the Paleolithic.

Shitty movie thats what I would say, but it could have been a lot better if they havent put that horror twist of supernaturally fast kidnapping of that boy, killing of the first character looked like some bear eat the shit out of it if it was just looking to adopt a boy. And btw why would a other species would have adopted a boy of other species, logics were missing feminist emotional were all the place.made characters didnt look the way they would have looked at that period in time.

I was stunned by the last 10 minutes. High art and very appropriate about us as humans.

What was the antagonist in the story?

The trailer got me really interested and i do plan to see it as soon as it comes out.. im expecting it to be similar to "it comes at night," so expecting it to be more like a mental game movie and leave us guessing 😅
@BoxOfChocolatez9 ай бұрын
I would say it's not much like It Comes at Night. This one is much more straightforward.

it’s like half the plot of The Village.

I hated the twist. I did not like the anti-human theme: the pastoralists are good, the moderns evil and bring all on themselves (our alphas are jerks and s3xually aggressive brutes, we choose violence first, our superstitions/religions are at their core evil and self serving, we're willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus to save our own neck). Meanwhile the pastoralists (indigenous) are kind hearted who kidnap only to save, who only fight when threatened in their own home, who steal corpses to only provide them decent funerary rights. And we moderns destroy everything we touch. I felt like I was being served a Social Justice lecture. And it made no sense at the climax when the surviving brother (new leader) got killed... that threw both the presumed original narrative AND the twist under the bus. I left deeply disappointed, because there WAS an intruiging story there (new people facing new threats in a new land), but they botched it.
@BoxOfChocolatez8 ай бұрын
I wasn't even bothered by the social commentary, I just didn't think it worked on a basic story level. If you kidnap their child don't be surprised when they come try to find and save him lol
@johnritter2258 ай бұрын
@BoxOfChocolatez agreed. And when there was a chance of a talk down/de-escalation, when they found the kid and had the standoff, the female Neanderthal turned and lopped the new leader's skull off. Real peaceful. THEN the kid starts in with how sweet they were. The whole thing fell apart.
@dw31348 ай бұрын
@@johnritter225yea it was dumb. And the kid didnt seem to care when his brother figure gets brutally murdered, but was all up in arms about the Neanderthals 😅

Fully appreciate not spoiling the big reveals in criticism of a film, but you're entire review is entirely vague, talk about the strong and weak points from your perspective, I recall reading Pauline Kael and she would thoughly examine a film without spoiling an inch of the reveal, same goes for the old Siskel and Ebert show, they could brilliantly analize the pros and cons of a movie without ruining the experience for the audience who was still deciding on buying a ticket. Also midway of your review you can warn vjewrs with a spoilers warning ahead and expand your views on the flick. S P O I L E T R S I thought the reveal of the mysterious threat not being an alien or a demon or some supernatural entity was the cherry on top of this quite entertaining flick.

Ironically enough, your criticism of my video is incredibly vague. As far as I'm concerned I did talk about the strong and weak points from my perspective, unless you can provide specific examples where I didn't? As for the reveal, I never expected the antagonist to be supernatural in any way, I would have actually been surprised if it had gone that way.

I saw this film at an AMC Screen Unseen and hated my experience. I had the same issues with my subtitles. But yeah the characters are 1 dimensional and the antagonists aren't that intriguing. IMDB said the antagonist was a mythical being lmao.

Wow you had the same issues with the subtitles? They definitely need to work on that.

I’m confused why they presented Cromagnon people in Europe as Africans…All the DNA evidence to Cromagnon shows they were genetically close to some modern day Europeans populations like the Basque.
