Been living in the everglades area, Florida since 84' and I can tell you that it happens all the time. You CAN'T take your pets near the water. There's 1000's of gators out here. Their favorite food seems to be dog, followed by wild pig. I hope you guys take all the warning seriously. been following the channel almost since the beginning. Live the dream and carry on Jake. St. Joseph (TH Stone) is booked all winter (well, early fall through spring) every year - like many of the parks in FL. They may never offer vehicle accessible camping again, but did open for day use just this past weekend. National and State forest recreation areas may be your best bet. None will have on-beach camping though. When you head north when it warms up, think about Edisto Island state park in South Carolina -- a great campground with just over the dune camping among huge live oaks. But - book NOW. They fill up too; may already be full.

Brother, I live in the Panhandle of Florida and you are spot on with regards to reservations. During the winter season most of our State Parks are occupied by Snow Birds. There is a requirement/limitation they can only stay for 14-days at a time and then must move, but most have master how to make connecting reservations so it can be a challenge. Remember, as a vet you have access to military bases and many have RV / Camping sites. You have quite the gear list but one question; your friend is carrying a pretty awesome looking messenger bag. My wife would like to know what brand and where she could get one. We may cross paths, we're driving a Jeep Cherokee pulling a T@B 320 boondock trailer. Stay safe

i was just down in key largo, great bar under the bridge coming in, not the resort thing the local bar. Fishing was great and you know if you get sick of the camping thing ask around for Dave i bet he will let you rent his yacht out for an evening. hot showers are the best my wife didnt even mind the boat life for a few days :)

Jake you are such an inspiration about three months ago i came back from a road trip from east to west coast visiting national parks in between. It was the best decision i made in my life it changed my perspective from the day to day routine, cant wait to take another trip. Definitely keep it up! Some times situations arise where a nomad lifestyle like his isn't practical. However, weekends, and time off exist. Use that time wisely and keep making memories ! My wife and I are 10 years strong into yearly road trips. Officially this summer we complete the lower 48. We do roughly 3 out of state trips a year. Spend the weekends exploring our local Colorado community and neighboring states.

Jake my heart is in my stomach after seeing how close you got to the alligator because they can move so fast on land that it could grab a dog, leash and all, or grabbed one of you. Ok, I'll stop being the Mommy or Grammy, not sure of your age. I would love for you to do an hour or more vlog at least once a month. Hey man, I know you have had a lot warnings about the gators but that 6 footer you were looking at... don't under estimate how much distance they can close if it popped up and came at you. Faster then you would think.

The key to the keys state parks. Stalk the website for cancellations. They happen daily, some at midnight, some random. I was just there last minute and camped the whole time. Also stayed at Long Pine Campground a few nights. Hidden gem* Pioneer Museum in Homestead. Amazing people working there. One guy working there is a ranger in the park!

Hey Jake, you should try looking more for W.M.A. Places many of them are free or low cost camping. Usually not crowded. Or Army corp of engineers sites . these are Fl. Version of BALM lands. W.M.A wilderness management area. Hope this is helpful.

Really! You were told don't take your dogs near a body of water! What do you do? You take the dogs with 10 feet of an alligator. The gator can move quicker than you can. Please don't do that again. Also just to let you know I lived in Florida for 17 years. Uses to play golf there as well, until a Gator stole one of my golf clubs. Haven't played golf since.

Sounds like it's time for a muffler or manifold! A bad exhaust can damage the engine fuel mileage, ruff running and lack of power. Jade is all you have.
