Then you should visit Ukraine, we do this every year for Easter! We call it Pysanka. Can't tell exactly the starting point of this tradition, but it has been with us for all recorded history. So many variations with lines and colours it's fascinating! There is even a memorial called Vegreville Egg in Canada. Try googling "Українська писанка". More designs and history there! Have a good day and plenty of inspiration!

These are called Pysanky eggs! My father and our family were/are from the Ukraine and when he was a child he would paint eggs like this with my grandfather every Easter (you can use a real egg where a small hole is made at the bottom to drain out the insides, or if preserved correctly thr inside of the eggs with dry out on there own but the yolk will harden into a ball and you can hear it when moving the egg around to admire the design of the outside, or lastly you can also use a wooden egg. Either way if perserved correctly they can last basically many years and wooden eggs will last forever). There is a long history to Pysanky eggs that pre date before Christianity came to the Ukraine when birds were thought of as Gods of the sun and the designs represented the upcoming Spring season. After Christianity they represented the ressurection of Christ. Each design means something very special and are chosen for who the egg will be gifted to. It takes SO much time, patience, and a stead hand, but its definitely worth it! We have a bunch that were either made by my father who has now passed on or by others in display in our china cabinet, and we actually still gift each other Pysanky eggs every year for Easter.

@@ultimsing professional pysanky artists make a pinhole and blow out the egg yolk carefully...that's why the egg floats in the dye in the video... But that is difficult, so as a child we made them leaving the yolk in. Typically the egg yolk would just dry out and turn hard if the pysanka survived a long time. I think the eggyolk hardened because the process involves putting wax on and holding the egg up to a candle, which probably sealed the shell somewhat and cooked the insides a little bit

I know that feeling exactly. I used to have such a solid memory, that I could never watch a TV show or movie again, because I just remembered everything and it was boring. Now in my 40s, I'll completely forgot the plot of a movie I watched a month ago, and it's like a whole new thing. Always thought I'd hate having my memory fade, but it's actually kind of awesome. More and more things are new to me!

In fact, Bucovina is not Romania. Bukovyna is Ukraine🇺🇦, I know it because it is my homeland. Although we have a small Romanian diaspora, this does not give you the right to call Bucovina Romania.

@@motionista Yes, you are practically right, but in Romania such a region is called Southern Bucovina, and to call it Bucovina is a manipulation. It is like Macedonia, which is a region of Greece, and northern Macedonia, which is an independent country, and these terms cannot be equated, since different regions have completely different histories and different peoples live there.

In a lot of ways having memory issues sucks but sometimes you can accidentally set up like happy little surprises for future you. The only reason I like buying things online at all is that I'll forget what it is by the time it gets to me.
