I usually don’t comment on videos but this one is one of my favorites on KZbin. This music video always makes me nostalgic even though I’m not old enough to have been around to watch the originals and the prequels in theaters (which is a fact that makes me sad). It’s such a good representation of the Star Wars cinematic universe. Being a fan of the movies isn’t just watching them, but loving the universe and the characters, and for me, wanting to be a part of their world. This video summarizes the spirit of Star Wars in a way not many have done better. Thank you.

The whole production looks and sounds to me like an exceedingly warm and affectionate tribute to the original film, the general ethos of the entire enterprise and any good bits that occurred by sheer fluke or accident in any of the sequels and prequels. 🙂😎👌🏻👍🏻

@@SANDSCORCHER Thank you for calling out the prequels too. Everybody hates on the sequels, and I agree they got problems, but then the prequels have the same exact problems and they look away.
@SANDSCORCHER3 жыл бұрын
@ Audrey Dimmel I’ve seen each Star Wars film as they were released theatrically. I think the sequels are flawed, but the prequels more so in most respects. I’ve only seen each of all of those six films the once and never had the desire to revisit any of them. I do feel however that Rogue One was essentially an apology for the prequel trilogy and an extremely effective one at that. In my estimation, Rogue One managed to achieve quite beautifully, in just one simple and elegant production, all of what George Lucas and his entire team, somehow comprehensively failed to do, in every one of the three prequel films prior to it’s release. To my mind, the Star Wars story is so simple it needs only be two films. Rogue One and Star Wars. The story is told to completion with just those two releases. I felt that even Empire and Jedi were superfluous and fell slightly short of the mark when compared to the groundbreaking nature of the first film. And left the cinema disappointed on both occasions after viewing their original releases in period. To my mind they were merely an exercise in gilding the lily, or just some good old fashioned capitalism. I doubt many people would agree with me on any of these points, but I have watched Rogue One more times than any of the prequels or sequels, plus of course the original film countless times over the decades and I feel that the two films combined make for a rounded and complete story that is not far from perfect. I like to think there’s at least some credence to my train of thought on the matter, based if only on how well the two films function together, when treated as parts one and two of a simple two part story. 🙂👍🏻

The editing in this video trips me up. It's so well done. The last few moments when all the characters fade into each over the fire does more to connect the series than force awakens itself (I really enjoyed that movie btw just pointing out how top tier the editing is). Also timing that "Oh" so it looks like Poe Dameron is saying it, and the entire scene with the hyper drive is gold. It makes me wish CP30 actually spoke with that accent.

@@audreydimmel6674 Prequels: - Has some iffy dialogue here and there - Anakin's turn seemed abrupt (really wasn't, but it seemed that way) - Jar Jar (do i need to say more?) - Got redeemed a lot through the books and comics and TV shows Sequels: - Absolutely 0 planning ahead, pretty vital for a trilogy, and especially for a franchise. (They didn't even have Rey's parents fixed WHILE THEY WERE FILMING) - Was used to promote a political agenda instead of focusing on telling the story. - Ignored a lot of what came before it, including the prequels, broke many pre-established rules in the Star Wars universe - The books and comics which tried to redeem it were not even mentioned (Phasma had a whole book dedicated to her and they just threw that out of the window and killed her off in TROS) - Rey was OP (one could argue that so were Luke and Anakin, but atleast they had some training, Luke spent weeks on Dagobah, and spent a year in between ESB and ROTJ, and Anakin had 10 years of training inbetween TPM and AOTC, plus 2 years of war in between AOTC and ROTS, what did Rey get? Barely anything.) - Threw out Anakin's whole arc, of redeeming himself by destroying the Emperor, by just making him return, and gave barely any reason as to how Palpatine returned, other than "Somehow, Palpatine returned". - Had Rose be an integral part of TLJ, only to ignore her existence except for 3 lines, sure TLJ was embarassing, but atleast acknowledge it. - Killed off Admiral Ackbar, one of the most important military figures in both Legends and Canon (Aftermath books) and barely even acknowledged it, and instead of giving the role to an important character who would be fit to leave, they gave it to some random nobody. - Holdo was one of the most horrible Admirals, a proper leader is meant to inspire confidence in their subordinates, to let them know that she has a greater plan, instead she antagonised her subordinates, and later in the movie we're supposed to see her as a GOOD GUY? - Brought back Nien Nunb and the Tantive IV (which alone was a stupid decision, why would the Empire keep the Tantive IV instead of just scrapping it?) only to kill them both off. - Killed off Snap Wexley in TROS, and then right afterward you have Wedge, his father figure who guided him throughout his earlier life, come in moments later not caring, (yes, he's lost a lot of friends in combat, but losing what's basically your son should elicit some reaction). - Kylo and Rey's romance made zero sense, they'd been trying to kill each other for like a year, and then Kylo's like "y'know what, I feel bad about murdering my dad" and boom they're making out. - The New Republic or the origins of the First Order, and the politics behind this was never explored. Sure, politics can be boring at times, but it's such an integral part of Star Wars, we don't know where The First Order is from, what they achieved, where did The New Republic come from? What had it been doing to combat The First Order before it was destroyed. Why is it The Resistance fighting the First Order, why not the New Republic? These questions are never once answered or even adressed in the movie. And really I could go on and on and on and on. Suffice it to say, the Prequels are no where near as bad as the Sequels, if bad at all. You say that you've forgiven Disney for giving you the Mandalorian, but really it wasn't Disney that gave you it. Disney stuck their hands into the Sequels, trying to make it about female rights, and I'm all for more female representation in Star Wars, but that's not the main point of Star Wars, Star Wars ia about people from all races, species and genders, not just about females. The Original Trilogy was about fighting a bigoted anti-alien Empire, who enslaves Wookies and treat other aliens badly. The Prequels were about how the Republic was rotting from within, and how a democracy turns into a dictatorship. Women need more representation, 100%, but the story shouldn't be about how women are cleaning up the mess men make, (again, see Holdo for reference).
