Yes but there was a meme going around on Isorrowproductions's channel about forcing him to play Artillery Only on Hearts of Iron 4, where artillery isn't that great. Fall of the Samurai artillery is a lot of fun and therefore hardly a punishment playthrough.

You should do a "looting only" challenge: as the Ikko Ikki, you are only allowed to loot every settlement you take. Also no Ronin units allowed.

I would argue that getting +5 exp levels on kisho ninja is better than blacksmith bonuses. As they will be your melee frontline and due to combination of both low unit size and armor - they will remain squishy. I have better time using their stealth to protect them from arrows and quickly route enemies with single volley of nades followed immedietaly by charge.

I think the extra melee attack will be worth it more. Experience is basically never worth it, might make the first few fights with those units easier, but soon they'll be maxed out on experience whereas going for melee attack will eventually get you to max experience as well and then they're just straight up better.

You're talking about Hattori Masanari which would inherit the Hattori Hanzo name after his father, the main reason he was so famous is he saved Tokugawa Ieyasu and helped him become shogun. If you want to know about other Hattori Hanzo, search from japanese source.

Inaccurate. The man who is known to history as Hattori Hanzo was born approximately 1542, Hattori Hanzo is also known as *Hattori Masanari or Hattori Masashige* He starts as your son Masanari in Shogun 2 when you play as the Hattori Clan. Make sure you do all your Research.

Hattori Hanzo was not one guy. It was a de facto title and it applied to at least 3 people. However, the most famous one is certainly Hattori Masanari, you are correct there.

I'm sure there's a mod out there somewhere that'll help. Maybe one that'll allow you to recruit ninjas early on. Alternatively, you can recruit ashigaru to defend your home province until you can recruit kisho ninja and bandits-- then you disband all ashigaru and recruit only the units you're allowed.

Hey MrSmartDonkey, have you ever had this happen, a minor clan manages to take control of a quarter of Japan? I was playing the Portugal campaign mod and while I was taking Kyushu, the Amako took fifteen provinces, including everything east of Kyushu all the way to Kyoto, killing the ikko-ikki, mori, hatori, uesegi and several others in the process.

Have you considered using a garrison mod? I use one that adds one unit for every building in your castle town. Depending on which build you have changes the unit, Stables give one yari cav, archery range gives one bow sam. Also you get some ashigaru units in you lvl 1 castle. I like this mod because it slows down the early game rush. Now you cannot steamroll over other clans without having an army. Plus it would help with these types of campaigns. Just a thought.

Maybe start recruiting hattori bandits right fron the start. Ranged units are always good in siege defenses. So you can survive untill you get kisho ninjas

ok, i paused the video after you clicked the pass turn of your 1st turn just to say this: you were right when you wanted to upgrade the castle first, and you should've done that. then on the second turn you would build farms. this way you would have only one turn with food shortage and more defensive troops sooner

i think he can if he plays it smart. he lost this campaign because he didn't vassalised asai. he managed to get a agreement with tsutsui, which would give him some safety from the west flank, and ifhe had vaasalised asai he would have a good northen wall for some turns. "ikko ikki would have conquered the asai between the 6 turns missing for the kisho ninja", yes, but then he should use the ninja to protect the asai as he would if he needed to protect himself, sabotajing the army and such. he can do it, he just needs to think a bit outside of the box

You understand the premise of the challenge right? I'm not allowed to recruit anything but Kisho Ninja and Hattori Bandits. Hattori Bandits have even more requirements than Kisho Ninja. So there first unit that will become available is the Kisho Ninja.

You should have made them your vassal, having them as a temporary meat shield may have given you enough turns to make units. Another suggestion is as Hattori take Kyoto turn 1, and then win the campaign. This basically requires you to get a few lucky block army attempts, so it may take like 20 tries to get the block army to work.

I’ve had games where I’d only have 5 or 7 ashiguri units (mixed of yari and bow) and won against a much larger and more advance force. The power bar is busted and not always reliable.

Power bar is only reliable IF you autoresolve. Only if you have 80% you can win. Sometimes Heroic Victory can happen with AutoResolve but rare..

They definitely are though, normally I agree but if I have to choose between 19 melee units or 13 melee units and 6 archers I choose the latter. There is a thing as too much of a good thing. Also it’ll spice up the run a bit rather than it being completely the same from start to finish.

MrSmart. You should really download the mod for the Kisho Scout Ninja. Its a cavalry unit but with great range and their arrows explode like the Kisho's bombs. Just a tip

In what way? In a trade deal, that's hardly an exploit, the AI benefits from trade too, they're willing to pay for it. Selling military access is an exploit in my opinion, but some people don't even think that is.
