I didn’t see the signs and was very naive about the culture. Over the years, he became emotionally and verbally abusive...I believed everything he said, that’s called BRAINWASHING! He kept me away from my family, American friends, banned me from attending church, criticized and berated me, took my paycheck only to give me $10-$20/Wk and the list goes on....Those who know my story say I should write a book. Yah it’s hard here, that’s why you fight for it. It was easier for him in Iran, he was being extremely selfish. She didn’t belong their, nor did her child. If that’s what he wanted he needed to separate from her. Their values were just too different. You can’t force what you want on to your partner.

Anybody know the legality of this situation ? Like... could an American citizen like contact an embassy or something & be rescued in some way from this scenario ?
@sarahjoines934329 күн бұрын
No American embassy in Iran she did go to an European embassy that helped USA citizens. But in Iran when ur married to someone from Iran your automatically a citizen of Iran so no help
@cavanpatrick634322 күн бұрын
We haven’t had any diplomatic relations with Iran since the hostage crisis in 1979 and there’s been none ever since so if you go to Iran you’re essentially on your own as an American. The US interests section is in the embassy of Switzerland but there’s little they can do. In reality, any country even if we have diplomatic relations with them, if you’re there you are subject to their laws no matter how backward they may be. Many foreigners get locked up in Thailand for lese majeste (insulting the monarchy) which is an incredibly broad definition. Most are pardoned by the King of Thailand within a few weeks, Thai nationals on the other hand can be locked up for ages. I love Thailand I’ve been there five times, I learned its best not to ask anything about the royal family, make sure you don’t crumple money because the kings photo is on it, and do not look or stare too long at posters or billboards of the king and royal family. The locals take it very seriously as the king is considered the leader of the Buddhist faith in the country. Many taxi’s have the words “Long Live the King” across the windshield. I was there once and didn’t know it was the kings birthday and had a black shirt on, the hotel staff stopped me before I left the hotel and politely explained that wearing black on that day was not a good idea so I went back and changed.
