The tax situation is normal. HMRC will have you pay taxes forward so they have funds on account to go towards future tax bills. Once your future tax bill is calculated, they’ll either refund if you owe less tax than on account or deduct it from the balance. They didn’t do anything wrong.

All music deals should come with the option of an optional accountant and financial advisor. If the artist decides to decline the offer then it’s on them but it should be offered for all artist not just rappers
