What I don't get about the double exposure technique is if you exposed the same film twice, wouldn't the background of each get blended together? Making it obvious it was a double exposure.
@kirinfaye5783
@kirinfaye5783 3 жыл бұрын
@@oakleysierney1918 Speaking from experience as someone who accidentally ran an entire roll of film through a camera twice...yes. The background should show in both of it were done accidentally. However, this was no accident. Since he intended to double expose the film, he could cover one section of the film so that it wouldn't expose the first time, then cover the other section the second time. Being the skilled photographer that he was, this sort of trick photography was certainly within his skill range.
@oakleysierney1918

@@kirinfaye5783 That certainly is an interesting idea. But don't you think it would be incredibly hard to cut out the exact shape of the person you want to photograph on paper and then glue that paper to an unused film frame? If the film hasn't been used yet it's blank , so no indication of what the shape should be where it should be or what size. It would seem like incredible guesswork to get that all right. Almost god level skill. I guess the way you would do it is to mark where the camera is and the subject is and take a trial photo and develop it so you could see how to make and where on the unused film to place the cover up paper. But as I recall, in the episode he didn't do any of that. It was just done on the spot.
@kirinfaye5783

@@oakleysierney1918 Yes, cutting out an exact shape would be nigh impossible. I was thinking more of just a rectangle. Remember, he took the first photograph with a lot of space on the right for a person to stand. The final product had the guy standing a little separate from everyone else, too. Therefore, his exact outline wouldn't be necessary. It still would be a tricky job, but if he came prepared for the first photo, which I believe he did, the double exposure would be a lot easier to get right, in the spur of a moment. As it is, he still got it wrong because the lighting was wrong. Lol I agree that there are some improbabilities in his final product, but I've scene the results that can be achieved with trick photography and real film (as opposed to digital), and this is completely possible. After all, Bonanza was made in the 60s before digital photography and Photoshop, so, presumably, whatever they did in the 1960s, could have been done in the 1860s.
@oakleysierney1918
@oakleysierney1918 3 жыл бұрын
@@kirinfaye5783 Rectangle, hmm. But even if he was separate from other people the sky and the ground would have to match exactly, and I mean *exactly*!. Otherwise you'd clearly see the lines of the rectangle in the finished product. I've done graphic design work, and if you paste in a rectangle from one photo or a nearby part of the same photo, if there is even a tiny minuscule difference in color value or intensity the eye picks it up right away. Nowadays you can do it with photo editing software features like blurring / smudging / blending around the edges. But unless he had some way to that kind of thing, I have absolutely no idea how he could pull it off.

Old Andy Devine. He played in almost as many westerns as John Wayne and even did play in a few John Wayne movies. He was always heavy, but in his old age he got a lot heavier. He played a lot of sidekick roles including Roy Rogers sidekick in ten movies. He even had his own TV show for kids for 5 years 55-60 called Andy's Gang. He died about ten years after he appeared here.

I`m not that far from Cincinnati and I don`t want to go there either. 45 minutes to fry chicken.? The photographer sqeezed the thing for the shutter to work he was standing in front of the camera blocking it from taking a picture of Troxell. A wooden pistol handle can kill a person on here but old Ben gets hit with a bronze figure of Marcus Aurelius and gets right up
