Jan-Stefan Janetzky The emmc has been flash the software via Android box (special tool) before it install to the pcb. china also sell emmc that have been programmed. So just install to the pcb only. No need to flash the software anymore. *Sorry for the bad english :)

This happened first to my Note 4. Yes, Note 4. The problem was not solved and thus, not fixed. I was going through holy **** w/the constant crashes and random reboots. The phone launched a pop-up telling me that data was corrupted and phone will do factory reset. I was a passenger in a car. I alerted the person driving that we had to stop at Best Buy NOW. The young fellow at the Samsung Experience counter and a young lady reset the phone. It seemed okay. It started happening again. Went back to the Experience. Another reset. Died soon after. I called my carrier tech support. "Do you have another Samsung Galaxy phone?" Yes, a healthy Note 2 for 3 years. She walked me through "it." I was instructed to removed both SIM and SD cards, and place them in my healthy Note 2. Within about a week and a half of exactly the same agonizing death throes, it went to it's rest. (I am going to get that motherboard replaced.) I had to borrow my dad's new phone. He is 91 now, and was then starting to use and enjoy a smartphone. Galaxy S5 Active. I needed the phone for my work. I am still using it and paying for 2 people, one phone. They won't get rid of the phone number of death. I would be much happier if they caught on fire! I AM getting my Note 8 this year, BTW. I loved my Notes before they took ill. But I will test it to it's limits right away. Here's the thing. Carrier called later told me it was a "known issue" which had *not* been solved. This was soon before the release of the Note 7, which were ALL recalled. iPhones have caught fire; no recall. Other brands have also caught fire; no recall. Figure it out for yourself. I feel certain that they finally smashed the issue. (Always be cautious with lithium ion batteries.) Coda: a plumber stole my dead Note 4. I am cheered by the thought of him trying to power up his brand "new" stolen phone. The Galaxy Note phones are the best smartphones ever. No contest. Except for this one little thing. You can bet the mortgage that the chip is sane now. They needed time.

I always thought that the cause is of bad material that Samsung uses, or even of a deliberate strategy of Samsung. Anyway, now I'm trying to find a new eMMC for my note2. hasanxxyyzz I realize this was written 10mts ago but I agree it is def the fault of Samsung & it seems like they're doing it to make idiots like this chick talking about buying the so buy the new phones n just throw away their old ones. which hey if u got$ to throw away by all means do you but I'm thoroughly PISSED about my note 4 dying completely after only 4 mts of using it & all the while dealing w the random powering off n the stress of trying to get it back on.. I'm on a budget so I bought it used off eBay so no warranty. (& also no mention of the prob it had) ugh! too bad I don't have one of these work stations but I can't even find a eMMC for a note 4. anyway, the stuff he put on before the new chip is flux but if u didn't alrdy know that then it's pretty apparent that you shouldn't be attempting this repair yourself.. that sounded rly rude but I'm not meaning it in a mean way.. it's just that you rly need the right tools to do repairs like this not just a blow-dryer & chip

Hello, i have a working note 2 and another note 2 that doesn't power on or charge. I replaced the simcard/micro sd card tray, USB charging port and battery. Even then, the phone does not charge or power on. Is it possible to know if there is a problem with the emmc chip or the power IC chip ? Also, my note 2 is rooted thank you...
