I appreciate your time and the way of teaching. Most people just assume you already know everything and just jump into high school stuff when what we really need is the elementary kindergarten teaching. Thank you

Thanks, I definitely intend to build the channel to include all levels. You might be surprised how many "advanced" sounding players still don't have solid note identification on the fretboard.

I've had a mandolin for years now and for some reason just got the desire to pick it up again. These videos are really great, and I'm surprisingly taking them to heart in learning these things... because I tend to skip past this section as I did in guitar, but realized how much it really hurt me. Thank you! I'd love to see your videos sorted in some playlists on your channel (Beginner Fundamentals, Moving Forward, Intermediate, Advanced, etc). Could be a great way to gain traction from an audience who wouldn't dig through the uploads for what applies to their part of the journey! I wish you the best, and thanks again!! So much!

I'm glad to hear you enjoy the content here on WWoM. Creating playlist is on my to do list. I'm not sure 🤔 where some of the videos should be categorized to be honest.....

Thank you very much for this video! I’m very new to the mandolin, but have attempted to teach myself various other instruments over the years. Learning the actual mechanics for playing them has always been relatively straight forward, but understanding why each instrument is set up the way they are and how this influences those mechanics has always been so elusive for me. While watching this seven video and learning how the notes are laid out on the fretboard in relation to each other, something finally “clicked” in my brain. After weeks of feeling like I hit a ceiling with learning to play to the mandolin, I suddenly feel like I’ve made a HUGE leap forward.

Thx Mel. Remember this is only four notes but learning these creates points of reference all over the neck.....

Ok, so I am working on this stuff, what do I need to be working on in my mind? Remembering where these are physically, or is it for my ear, or both? I guess my question is, what is my ultimate goal with this exercise... when will I know I have mastered it?

This excersize is intended to help you with application of scales and arpeggios. Without solid note Identification that knowledge can't be applied.
