I'm pretty sure that I've managed to fix my Audi A6 C5 Avant Quattro with a £50 part.
It begs the question: was this the only reason that this car was parked up? If so, I've got myself a great deal. I also do some work on the EGR valve, MAF sensor, air in the fuel, and other gubbins.

Hiya Nico, lights ate looking good,definitely something amiss with front caliper, other side was clezn(working) check piston/sliders...also noticed different bolts on front hubs...(audio used a bolt instead of hub nut) .... Re putting a 4.2 into car and keeping diesel badges....I used to own a Golf v5 (170 bhp auto) took it to France for a tour, but stuck on 1.4 badges.was in le Man's area and some spotty youth in a Renault 17( very old and very tappet) for some strange reason his car was right hand drive and french plates...gestured he wanted to traffic light grand prix, girlfriend asked what i was doing as had foot on brake and raised revs to about 3,000. ...I replied "when lights go green all hell will beak loose" he was just a dot in mirror after not very long...fun car to drive as looked like standard golf,no big tyres/wheels...no spoilers etc, but amazing engine sound....v5 has only one very large cylinder head..and really filled the engine bay :) Good luck with Audi.... and Merc....haven't noticed any difference in videos with new advertisers, or not started yet? Hi Nino, I watched your previous video I felt sorry that you bought that car.. But its great content. However Two weeks back I was really stupid and took my car for a service, partly because it comes up on start up.. My car is 2007 Audi 2.7 tdi estate "Avant" has on board MM system . So I pretty much bought my car without seeing its true condition. It Mot'd the tester flagged up a" front oil leak but not excessive vehicle sump plug". Its never bothered me and I top oil up just once in 10.000 miles of ownership. I love the car for its drive comfort and the car tells me when something it needs.. like washer fluid it took 5 liters I think or most of it.. Oh the fuel light bleeps at 50 miles left. The only other issues on mot where my cloudy headlights oh and rear brake wear on back brake pads. So going to the service place that serviced car in past I entrusted them with it.. I took £400 with me just in case, but my total cost was reasonable and I was happy for this garage to service my Mercedes and Astra. So since service I drove it 93 miles and I felt the service had made the car just that little bit better.. Hell no.. My oil light flashed on min oil level top up..? On getting home I noticed where I park is a large damp patch size of an open morning newspaper The star or Sun. I was very worried luckily The garage asked me to bring back to garage I got there they changed sump plug. On start of service I expressed the slight oil leak.. Perhaps if I never id not have the fault, but its my honesty. they exchanged the sump plug with a factors part and hence leak bad washer or poor fit.(something about a lip or groove,washer not blending to it). So they got a VAG one, I thought all my issue with it was over but 22 miles use nearly getting home oil light came on again I checked everywhere I parked after leaving garage. I've not been near car since I will be in about an hour (Sunday) I do occasional deliveries with it and use it to collect my hobby toys. Talk about a MAF sensor I had same issue with my Mercedes CLK 320 starting issues. But I have had many issues with my CLK 320 again I loved that car some guy offered me £160 car had 12 months mot two new tyres brand new battery brakes were serviced but wasn't great in wet.. I still got car but it might look better in a scrapyard despite spending £500 for this years mot with new discs n pads all round funny the old brakes were brand new and done less than 200 miles since 2021 mot.. Like my older cars but Audi Mercedes estate cars are not cheap I was looking at one Friday £6700 for a 2011 plate and it has a cat on its description,but has Le mans alloy wheels.Purple looking car. Oh well Monday 11th July 2022 see what happens when phone garage.. Its not really on I am truly embarrased "simple oil change".. One guy said a good garage would never drain oil from sump plug,yes I can see why An Audi workshop is tiled floors piping for exhaust fumes but this guy said garages would suck oil out.. But I worked in a British leyland garage I was trainee Valeter 1981 -1982 and I recall cars going up on ramp a oil tank disposal unit under sump drain oil while draining went service parts ordered service kit 25 minutes later car was done,parked up and if customer had issues flagged up.. Service n stampsometimes cars had brakes or other jobs even service wash..

@NotEconomicallyViable Жыл бұрын
That sounds like someone has opened up a whole can of worms! Not all garages suck the oil out. Good luck getting a SORN car with no MoT back on the road. I did it with a Cat N salvage. Prebooked MoT, drive car to MoT. With a pass, drive it straight home and park on driveway. Go to post office and pay tax and V5 application fee. Wait 6 weeks for new V5. Hardest part was getting insurance as many companies won't start a new policy for a car on SORN. Eventually I had to use one of the online companies that gives you temporary cover for up to 28 days

At 6:33 sounds like a...what's it called, rocker? The camshafts can run in and rockers can go flying into your heads. Sounded like exactly that happening. I once drove one with 3 rockers missing in their spots but the engine sounded normal. Missed some of it's power though. Didn't really smoke. Concerning the brakes, if people don't do brakefluid changes reguarly, the brake calipers can seize up. The Aluminium corrodes and exerts a lot of pressure on the sealing ring around the piston which locks it in place. Had this multiple times on the HP2 and ATE57 and 54 brake calipers. I just recently rebuilt every brake caliper on our A3 8L because of the same problem. 4 years without brakefluid change. The rubber boot on the cv joint being defective always compromises the integrity of the cv joint. And since it is the same amount of work changing just the boot, I always do the whole cv joint. Don't want to be going through the 1 1/2 hours of work just to do it again as soon as you go in full steering lock and accelerate hearing creaking or grinding noises. If you feel play while turning the axle shaft it already is a goner. And you hear wheelbearings long before you feel anything.
@NotEconomicallyViable
@NotEconomicallyViable Жыл бұрын
How sure are you that the horrible clunking noise is a rocker? I’ve removed the rocker cover and I’m looking at the camshafts and I can’t see any obviously broken rockers. To be fair, I can’t see them all, but there aren’t any pieces of metal laying around in the top of the cylinder head…

The issue will most code readers are that the ecu is looking for specific ranges and logs/stores anything that hasn’t met those ranges and the code reader gives you the specific codes. If said fault part is faulty but giving a reading that is in spec then the ecu says it’s ok. Some readers can give you live data where you can actually see what is doing what. That way you can trace a fault by the readings on other sensors. I.E. an air leak on the intake side will give you strange 02 sensor readings and the ecu will try and adjust fuelling trim to correct. I hope that makes sense it does in my head

@@NotEconomicallyViable Yeah mate. Especially the AKE engine you have is notoriously known for the camshaft failure, because it was one of the first engine revisions of the 2.5 TDI. So the oil change will definitely do good for the engine

Well budy 4.2 v8 sounds good, but if you will be thinking about tuning that engine don't do it. Becouse v8 has very high compression ratio. same goes to 3.2 v6 fsi engine really high compression ratio. Here's Compression Ratio : 12.5 for 4.2 v8 fsi edit: i would go for 4.2 v8 tdi engine.
