Steps are good for getting air bubbles in the engine propeller.

I have read some studies about the optimal step height should be around 4-5% of the hull's draft but I applied it on my 3D rhino model and the result is it is way too short for being called a step

Video from the Cowes-Torquay 2016 race shows the Outerlimits Silverline boat with it's multi steps going in rough seas with what looks like av very dangerous negative trim angle. As if the boat will nose dive at every second. Can it be too much of a good think with steps? Some Outerlimits boats is known for spinning out in turns. Maybe that is one of the negative sides of a stepped boat, you have to be careful in turns so the steps don't hook. And the more steps you have the more negative ride you get?

Great talk Sir. I find a few terminologies confusing. To me it makes more sense to take of stepped hull as being longitudinally stepped as that is what you see in the longitudinal view. Also, when you refer to pitch, are you talking of trim in calm water? Usually the word pitch is associated with a boat in waves.
