Hi Becky - love all your makes, especially the black and white Betty dress! I’m a big thrifter and have many thrifted fabrics which I use in my makes.

I was so excited to see how you refashion thrift store finds as this is one of my favourite sewing things to do. Last summer I made 4 peasant style tops from extra large scarves. A few weeks ago I found an extra large caftan that will make a perfect long sleeved top. I recently made a tshirt from a lightweight robe. I have flamingo printed sheets in my stash that are waiting to become a summer dress and possibly pj bottoms. My coworkers are in awe of my refashions and quite jealous as none of them can sew.

That was a great video. Lovely to see someone being creative with their upcycling. They were all great but the black and white dress was stunning. What an amazing find. I have turned a few duvets into dresses during lockdown - the fabric is quite often more unusual than you get in “off the roll” fabric.

My favourite was you Emma dress, the colours are lovely and you look great in it. Love your Betty dresses, I'm making my first one this year, I'll have to toile the bodice though first I think. Your quilted Fraser looks great, nice and cosy and I like the 3/4 length sleeves. I really enjoy charity shop shopping too...I haven't been for awhile though, so must go at some point xx
@NotesfromtheSewingRoom3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Karen 😊💖 I really like the Emma dress pattern and I was delighted that I was able to make it out of a charity shop purchase. I’m pleased you enjoy charity shop shopping too, there is often lots of choice of things to either wear or upcycle 💖🧵. Hope you enjoy the Betty dress, I made a size 8 at the top and graded out to a 10 at the waist from memory Xx
@sewlittletime3 жыл бұрын
@@NotesfromtheSewingRoom thanks Becky...I'll probably try the straight 10 bodice initially as my bust is a bit bigger, so the 8 might be a tad tight. Xx

I love trawling the charity shops for upcycling/refashioning opportunities too! 100% cotton sheets and duvet covers are brilliant, as are extra large tee shirts and dresses. How clever to use a man's shirt! Thinking about it, there's loads of good quality fabric if you find one in a large size - genius! The green dress is fabulous, and I love the black and white Betty dress, truly beautiful 😍

@Notes from the Sewing Room Thrifted duvets are the best, bc they have twice the fabric (sometimes different patterns on the two sides) and tend to be less worn than sheets.

First time seeing you and I am glad to have found you. It was a recommendation when I opened the iPad. I enjoyed your up cycling of the different items. I have thought of trying it but didn’t know how to do it. I have gone to charity shows and stood staring at different items trying to figure out what I could make out of them. Thank you for assistance. I am going to watch you again. Wish that I could make some of the patterns that you show but I am a plus size and would not get into some of them. I wish I could make the cami top to wear but I am bigger than size 20. Thank you.

I find that I’m looking at the fabric of outfits in the charity shops these days, rather than the style or size, so that I can refashion. What’s the difference between a book bag and a tote bag? Or are they the same thing?

Very inspiring video! I always make plans to refashion things, but then I never get around to it...:-( About the Betty dress sleeve add-on: I wanted to keep the original neckline, so I just made new bodice pattern pieces where I kept everything from the original, but used the sleeve opening from the add-on pack (and then used the sleeve pieces of course). I have a couple of versions on my IG account (@ellensolvik) - a white/green floral and a black w/red&pink flowers - if you'd like to take a look. And by the way - I would also love a Betty dress video! :-)
