Wow... This is definitely one of the most interesting albums I've heard in a long time. Thanks so much for fishing this out of the depths for us.

A masterpiece I think.

The main thing about the band and the album is that they blended "classic" symphonic prog with scandinavian folk music, which is the main reason it stands out. Perhaps not inventive per se, but it was something new within symphonic rock. Also, one of their main influences was the album "Stained Glass Stories" by Cathedral. Highly recommended if you like Änglagård.

When you said that Hybris could fit on an LP, it was actually released on vinyl upon release. I own the original vinyl release I bought in 1997 (which was already out of print then).

I got the album in 1992, and I remember I was looking for the ultimate prog band after hundreds of Dream Theater clones . I was completely astonished listening to this album : it sounded old but new, folk and progressive, essential but sofisticated. Very very impressive. Every musician is very particular, every arrangement , every harmonization is suitable from the beginning to the end. The only thing very peculiar is the singing melody. But, after all, "Hybris" means arrogance, that forces all the classical song rules.

The only down side with Hybris is that once you've let this album get into your head, no other progressive rock will ever come close to being nearly as good.

Better listen 👂 king crimson surely you change your mind or Van der Graaf or Jethro Tull , these are the masters of prog and the direct influence on anglagard all albums

@@danieldelrio1411 Well I agree that Anglagard stand on the shoulders of those giants and a few more besides, but with the Hybris album they made an album that has never been topped IMHO. Daniel, give me some album suggestions to help change my mind. I am always happy to listen to music that other people love. Cheers
