A few things to clarify regarding bot verification: 1. You can't just create 75 servers on your own and add the bot to all of them, Discord is able to see this and will deny your verification request if they see that like half the servers your bot is in are made by you. 2. You can also not just grow a bot in just a few days, this will result in them denying it for suspicious growth. 3. You can't just "make up an identity" since Stripe will verify your identity by scanning your government ID. So unless you know someone who could forge you legit looking government IDs you're out of luck. How come that such malicious bots still get verified? Simple: These bots are previously legit bots from developers that had their accounts hijacked by getting token grabbed etc., and then get re-used from spreading stuff like this.

As a developer of a large bot, certainly the verified badge means nothing - the whole history of the badge and verification process was rocky and controversial since the beginning of it. The whole process is flawed with legitimate bots being flagged as "inorganically grown" with no appeal process. In fact Discord had to remove the "verified bot developer" badge given to users with verified bots because people kept making bots only to get the badge just to abandon them later (just shows you how poorly thought out this all was). And most of these "verified" bots aren't actually malicious because the author intended it that way, it's because they had tokens leaked due to poor security practises by the bot developers as well as Discord themselves.

I'm a verified bot owner, and getting a bot verified is not as easy as you make it seem. You can't just create 75 servers and make the bot join, it has to be grown "organically" (slow and different server owners). Also they require a picture of your ID. However, it's still important to be super careful even for verified bots. Discord doesn't have any real way of screening your bot's code, so it can only determine if the bot is malicious based on actions your bot has taken. Once your bot is verified, its token can theoretically be sold, the code can be changed, and it can be a completely different bot.

I work for one of the largest Bot Lists and deal with this often. Let me clear things up here: 1) You can’t make 75 servers to get your bot verified 2) Many of these bots just had an error and their “Authorization Information” has been stolen or the owner’s account was banned. 3) The rest of these bots are hijacked by people stealing info (like an IP) from a victim and trying to blackmail them into giving them the bot’s token. Of course, this is more unlikely but I have seen it happen.

discord should make a completely different way of verifying the bot, they should add a bot rating system where if the bot has all ratings from all 75+ servers and theyre good ratings (above 80%) they will then be able to apply for a bot verification, however if the bot then gets below 70% ratings it will be unverified so if users get spammed by the bot they can just dislike it and the ratings will drop

It is not actually that easy to get your bot to 75 servers: Discord enforces something called inorganic growth: Essentially flags your bot to not pass verification, but increase your limit to 150. Inorganic growth happens when your bot incredibly grows fast for no reason and/or was advertised to do so. This also applies to just creating your own servers.

While some of what you share is true, a lot of what you said about verification is false, and you really should be researching before hand, because while a lot can happen, this video makes it appear as if you shouldn't trust a smaller bot, because it's "easy to verify a bot". Bot developers put a lot of time, effort, and money, into their bots, and that shouldn't be punished with something like this. What I'm going to share is partially a repeat of what others have said, but I also wanted to share what I said above, and some of what's below. Discord will prohibit verification if you grow just like that, or if the server/unique owner ratio is low, as in there aren't many unique owners. While faking an identity is possible, it's not so easy. You'd need to forge a real government ID for wherever you are (or use someone else's, which is identity fraud, a felony), which, last I checked, is difficult, and puts you at a big risk of getting arrested for forgery (in the US, this is a felony, not worth it for a Discord bot). You're also required to provide a TOS, write out explanations for your bot's functionality, talk about your data practices, and in some cases, screenshot your bot working or share code from your most used commands. Most malicious verified bots are verified because they're either stolen (most common with malicious verified bots), or the developer made (or more likely, used open source code) a real bot, then swapped out the code for malicious code. If you're unsure about if a bot might be stolen, contact the developer and ask them about some of the things they do to keep their account and token safe (or do some searches, maybe they've talked about it in the past). While most developers will follow these practices already, not all do. You should be looking for them to have 2FA (aka MFA) on their account, a trusted host (or self host), not clicking on random links, and keeping tokens out of public areas (such as a GitHub repo). Oh, and 3 more general things: one, never grant the Administrator permission. Well-designed bots will follow the principle of least permission (this also applies to roles in your server), where only the permissions necessary for operation are granted (send messages, external emojis, etc, varies by bot). A bot having every permission except for Administrator is better than a bot having Administrator, because Administrator provides a bit more power than having every permission. Two, make sure you absolutely trust an app before giving it permission to add you to servers. It can be very annoying if you hit the server cap constantly because of a bot. Three, check your authorized apps every once in a while. If you haven't used it in a while (all apps, not just bots), or it was only for a server you're no longer a part of (or that doesn't exist anymore), revoke access. It'll take a few minutes, but it could save you from future problems.

Great information! If I could go back in time I would revise the video to explain that getting verified is more of a process than indicated in the video.
