Wanted to talk about my current feelings towards this CURRENT season of Overwatch, I did this in one take with barely any edits so not the best with these types of videos but I'll improve if people like listening to me talk. Peace and love!

I've seen maybe 2 Porche D.Vas the entire season. didn't even know Pharah had a Porche skin until I saw it in the bottom right of the main menu. (idk why they collab-ed with Porche. I feel like if fancy car people and Overwatch players were a ven diagram, they'd be two different circles on two different sheets of paper in two different buildings in two different countries.)

Random, but i just realized we haven't gotten a new cinematic since Kiriko's, which was over a year and a half ago. That Sojourn one that came out wasn't even "new". They previewed it back in like 2021. Pretty sure they had it in the vault for a while. What is up with that though? Overwatch needs things like that to help its public perception and yet it's like they can't bother with cinematics anymore.

Venture's release was such a let down, there was so many ways they could have an origin story, venture could be trying to recover artifacts from talon and the junkers are there to steal it too. There is so much they could do for venture, but they didn't do anything at all with them, killing all hype surrounding the character nearly instantly

@@ghastlyweather1750 the biggest thing for me is Venture. their gameplay trailer had anubis in it, they're an archaeologist and the season is called Venture Forth and yet they are basically nowhere to be seen in the battle pass and still don't have an animated origin story. i think the season was originally supposed to be around egyptian archaeology but higher ups pushed the mirrorwatch theme (and mercy mythic out of the pattern) because they thought it would generate more buzz

I'm coming at this from a tank players perspective: The biggest problem with the game right now is that you can't play what you want. You either pick the meta heroes or you lose, and that applies to everyone on the team, and if you have that one OTP on your team who refuses to switch, it's actually over and there's not much you can do about it, especially as a tank. There is very little outplaying someone on the worse hero, and even when you do, there is no sense of acomplishment because you get screamed at by your 4-10 Soldier for throwing by not picking Road/Orisa/Mauga/whatever unfun piece of shit tank that Blizzard wants to be meta this season.

I agree completely, the countering has gotten way out of hand, but if were being honest its gonna be a while before this game becomes fun again. Blizzard execs basically admit that activation is just using blizzards past reputation to sell on nostalgia, its pretty sad. I wish the blizzard has passion like in the ild days but now its just corporate greed. The shop is an excellent example. I went a bit off topic but this all correlates nonetheless.

​​​​@@sbuskauhis not necessarily. It's 5v5 that's the problem, full stop. Tanks make sense with two, especially with their more flexible/brawler playstyle nowadays. Go back and use the old format to stabilize the game and do to Tank what Support went through in 5v5 to get to Tank and DPS' level. Substantial reworks while removing problematic design (Tank synergy, Support power creep, lack of role identity overall) are more possible there.

It would be so cool if they could continue with the story in game. They could release something like a mini battlepass like what they did with the Christmas pass but it could be like the official OW2 uniform for the characters. Brig and Lucio recently joined at the end of pve so they could get them.

It couldn't be more obvious that blizzard only wants to push out content that will generate revenue. The creative vision, and community as a whole started dying around 2019-2020. At this stage, they made a business decision to not make content that steers focus away from new heroes, battlepass, skins, etc., even if it is received well by the community.

Thats why i ultimately stopped playing too. People in voicechat are just rude. Not everyone obviously, but the general atmosphere was pretty bad and i imagine that all the sane players just didnt use vc anymore, so only the annoying ones stayed, because thats what i did at least

The death of Gauntlet was entirely Blizzard's fault, they expected that mode to have enough replayability to be fine, when that mode has little to none replayability. Let there be more things, more variables that change things up. And on with the rest of PvE, YES let players make it, we will do it, even I who just wants Archives but permanent would hope on the band-wagon to make it work. I just can't have fun in current overwatch due to the toxicity and poor gamefeel of tanks, I had hopes with PvE being a better place to just chill and have fun again, but that likelihood is just getting further and further away.

The issue i have as a tank main with the counterswapping issue is that i dont want to counterswap but i get counterswapped by the whole team constantly. I want to play winston? sucks for me they swap reaper bastion, i want to play junker queen? get ready to be hit with ana mei. Same with zarya when i get hit with sombra constantly and i cant even bubble. it just feels like i cannot play because the enemy team hard shifts their team to counterswap me. I think its better queue times with 5v5 but the tanks just get punished for existing because of it

Coming from someone who played overwatch a lot off on, coming back recently it reminded me how much of a coin flip the game feels. It’s very rare to find a close match. 90% of the time you either destroy the other team with barely any give, or they do it to you. Just a miserable experience both ways.

Counter swapping really made games super one sided when one tank can counter swap and the other cant or refuses. 5v5 also made each individual player skill more impactufl on the game, if there was a smurf, or a mismatch on the match maker, its a lot more impactful. Just look at Battlefield as a more extreme example of this, more players in a lobby generally makes individual players impact lower, making games less steam roll-y. Def the biggest contributor is the tank experience in 5v5. Tanks just aren't fun to play competitively or fight against.

Especially the venture cosmetics - shit is so annoying and it feels like the same treatment lifeweaver got where the lgbt+ characters that they hyped up were just left to rot because it was a queer attention grab but they weren't interested themselves as a company. Lw has a little more now because people have been calling them out along with their treatment of baptiste but it's very much a noticeable issue. Mauga had a bundle skin, 2 legendary skins, and a battle pass skin on his release. And they couldn't even be bothered to give venture basic legendaries. That's a fucking first. I will say that the hero mastery shit is actually really annoying as a casual player. I wanted to actually be able to learn how characters work and master scenarios instead of like. Having to rush through a timed relay where I have to double back to get coins just so I could get clout on a leader board... no diss on you, but I want to actually master a hero and not master a specific course. And hero gauntlet was a bit too ambitious for them imo - you could queue solo and get matched with other players but the difficulty scaled like shit and the map was too huge for the amount of enemies you have to go against. Cool concept but poorly done. Again it felt less like a mastery and more like. Chickens running around with their heads cut off. Wish it was more of a 'work together to protect this objective' rather than split up and collect coins to get more points kind of deal. Also agree about the community. Sick and tired of having to report at least one person every other game whether its homophobia or transphobia, toxic people who get mad I won't damage boost them on mercy lol, or people with egos too big for the fact that they're playing quick play its like. What is wrong with yall. I also stopped watching a lot of KZbin content bc every time it feels like there's a complaint about one character or another and it's so damn tiring. This game is so fun but definitely needs outside work to actually make it good. But it's ok guys instead of listening to what players want, how about another +5 to lifeweaver damage lmaooo

@@teqque5982 my brother in christ I was not just healing I was also damage boosting but my team was constantly dying and ana could not heal my tank fast enough. Damage boost only needs a second to have the effect activated for a small window of time so I can swap it like frogger spams heal and speed and still get value. Please understand that neither you nor the dude in my game are my coach and I am just playing to have fun in quickplay. I don't need to maximise my value to do so lmao. The dude was mad that I wasn't pocketing him as pharah even though he never asked and immediately started flaming me when I wouldn't follow him on his weird ass flanks. I even told him that I personally do not pocket pharahs in qp matches because it's unfun as fuck to play against and I don't want to do that. But he constantly kept harassing me and telling me to damage boost even though we won the game lmao.

Yep, like what happened with WoW. Marvel Rivals already have 1 million whislists on Steam and it's growing fast, if you look at the most played games on Steam, I think the alltime record is like 1.3 million active players or something like that, Marvel Rivals can reach 2 million if not more. I think this kind of surge, out of nowhere a very strong competitor, that will make Blizzard desperate, either forcing them to release "classic" Overwatch or change the gameplay even further (6v6 coming back or other drastic changes)

It's why I hate most of these multiplayer games cause once servers get discontinued support there just isn't a game anymore. That's one of the reasons pve is a massive slap in the face, I LIKE the characters and gameplay, I just HATE playing in a competitive match against other players. I want something I can just play on my own that isn't simply "overwatch but braindead bots". I wake up every day hoping Ubisoft announces that they go under for leading the charge on this "you don't own your games anymore" BS. I don't normally advocate pirating new games but for that company I'd be willing to make an exception... That is if their games were good enough to warrant pirating them in the first place.

The mauga season killed my fun on lucio cuz I deranked a ton, everyone played mauga, and everyone shit on me for playing lucio instead of ana or kiri 💀. Mauga was really the downfall of the game for me

Mauga meta was the worst. I was a tank main for an extremely long time, since overwatch one. My second role was support. I stopped playing both of those roles in that season and started playing only DPS. That season played just a bit until he was nerfed and haven't touched those two roles ever since

Honestly I don't see it doing anything. This is the same studio that said kiriko was years younger than the shimadas despite training against them, gave McCree 3 canon different ages, and are leading to the implication that Sojourn's sister was a middle aged teen when she had a child (technically possible yes, but I severely doubt that's what they wanted for that character). The lore is completely dead at this point, the only thing a cinematic would do is just look good.

With the workshop, the main challenge is, that you don't have access to different effects, so you have to kind of make every ability awkwardly from those glowing balls instead. A proper workshop update that gave people the ability to use all the particle effects, glow effects, projectiles etc from the game with maybe more added in the future and also adding a damn map editor would really revive the game imo.

my suspicion is that we didn't get any venture cosmetics because they're trying to phase out the usefulness of legacy coins and put all the cosmetics in the shop and battle pass for more purchases. if the next hero comes out with no cosmetics im gonna be sad

The annoying part is that solo-Qing a mission gives you 30 seconds for some rando to join your queue before it puts you in with AI teammates. At least let me stay in queue for a few minutes - it doesn't feel right without actual players to enjoy the battle with. I also still don't have the Pachimari rescue challenge done. Who decided that all 4 players would have to rescue them for it to count - that's just cruel. Not to mention the issue of only 1 player being able to pay their subway fare for the challenge, but there are like 4 cups of coffee on the map (which a player can drink all of them and also pay the fare even if they already have the challenge done). The mission challenges sucked so bad, but playing them was fun.

On the topic of a lack of hero variety in ranked, just remember, gamer's are one of the few groups of people that will optimize the fun out of their own hobby. Once the optimal combination or character playstyles are found to win the most % of games played or wins the fastest, there's just less reason to play other 'suboptimal' strategies and/or characters

Ngl I never understood why devs didnt and still doesnt make a time scale for the dps passive it sounds super unfair if you think about how a full widow headshot (300damage) and a tickle from a tracer (can go lower than 1damage) has the same 20 percent heal reduction for 2 seconds. Like make it so damage over 100 in a single shot stay for 3 seconds and lower down the tickle damage dps passive timer to be least of 0.1 seconds. It always occured to me to be unfair when a 50m away soldier spamming primaryfire can give that full effect lol

@@yurei3714 OW1 lasted because it was a purchased game that was fun to play with friends *and* had the "sequel" coming out Soon™ so people stayed to play because the sequel was gonna be lots of new stuff. Then OW2, the "sequel", was literally just an update that removed more content than it added, and started begging for money left right centre ontop of making you grind the game to unlock new heroes, that were free day 1 just a version patch ago. OW2 has a community of people that have isolated themselves so much they think the game will go forever but its very clearly on the path to *not*. They keep adding more currencies and ways to spend money, add almost nothing "new" (basically just skins), and still feel entitled to people spending money (the christmas mini-bp) after already spending. They literally want you to buy a singular skin for the price of the entire OW game (it was constantly on sale for $20 or so) that had every hero up till Sojourn instantly available to play. The game hasn't been doing well since launch, to the point the OW team literally didn't get pay bonuses (based on IP performance) because it wasn't performing and printing money like GaaS should. They've seemingly now devolved back to ow1 levels of updates where nothing happens for months, they add 1 or 2 things (usually skins you have to buy) and then do nothing until the next season where they add a few new things (you have to buy most of it). The only 1 good thing they did was stop locking heroes in the BP and that's about it.

Players need impact. No one is killing anyone anymore. Fights are lasting 4-5 minutes when they should be being decided in 1-2.

I personally think this is the biggest issue, i haven't played for a year but i remember having fun even when i decided to quit. Now i have so many games where players(myself included) have 0-4 elims and the most elims on the team are around 18. Also i feel like the games have been more 1 sided than before. There is also the issue with Counterwatch being a much bigger issue than what i remember. I don't know how but they somehow made the game worse. P.s id like to add there is alot that has changed(Illari,Mauga,Venture) so there are things im still learning.

Isn’t it funny how the mythic skins (apart from Tracer) were only one tier of the battle pass, that being tier 80? Now, with prisms and eight individual rewards of ten prisms each, the mythic skin, to be fully unlocked, is effectively 10% of the battle pass… before it was 1/80 tiers, now it’s 8/80 tiers… not saying it’s a bad thing, I love the choice of forgoing a skin if you don’t like it or going back to get one you missed, but just a thing I noticed… they largely got rid of souvenirs to accommodate this change and that’s personally fine with me haha

I don’t understand the removal of end of season competitive rewards. They said they would replace them with competitive challenges but even if you win every game it STILL takes more games to get to 3k than it did pre season 9 on top of not getting end of season rewards so there’s no difference in getting a high rank anymore other than a title, not to even mention the removal of getting rewards for each role which they removed in ow2 so what’s the point in being gm all roles other then titles/bragging which who cares and that

Have to HARD agree on a guild system. It would drastically improve the community. You create a guild, invite good people, kick toxic people. Guild leaders should be able to message other guild leaders to organize a tournament, all in game. Guilds could have a maximum player count of 100. You would see GM only guilds, Bronze only guilds, LGBTQ guilds, etc etc.. Guilds for all! Imagine tournaments set up with bronze vs bronze, watching those. They would be entertaining to see what unbelievable shenanigans go on there. Create your own community all in game. Needs to happen.
