Nice work! And definitely a challenge on your own. I have found the cordwood shrinks in time and separate from the mortar and in time you can push them right through. You can secure them really easily in the building stage by driving short nails half way in along the length of the log. Put in several nails on all sides of a log ,sticking out 2 or 3 cm and they will grab the mortar...forever!
@tsaicio10 ай бұрын
There is much simpler way. Put into the mortar any kind of fiber and it will not crack of it was properly mixed.

Just a suggestion: Wet the base concrete first and try to find an adhesive bridge between the log and the mix you're doing, may be try some different mix, pure cement or cement and lime on just the very thin surface of the log, that will make a much better union between the log and the other mixture you are using. (also wet the log, a little bit to avoit the wood extract water from the mix).

lifting the frame (window): just lift it horizontal - in that way that you can set the downward edge onto the ment platform, than it is a little bit easier to erect the windows frame. But the rope still good as backstop

I know you’re out boating the great big ocean now. I have a few questions though. Any word on the cabin build are the restrictions being taken care of? Or still in limbo? always I would love to know in exact detail on how you made your mortar mix for foundation, like mix ratio, and product being used. That worked for you. And same with the cord walls.
@aurochf13 жыл бұрын
Looks great Huub! even better than I thought and the bottles look really nice! I wonder if the insulation is really necessary, the walls are quite thick anyways and the logs must insulate a lot already.
@HuubVlogs3 жыл бұрын
good question. this is just how I saw others do it :)
@aurochf13 жыл бұрын
@@HuubVlogs I figured that it may be easier not to add the insulation and the wall would be sturdier as they will have to sustain part of the weight of the cabin. I am no expert, though. I am liking more and more how it looks, including the bottles.
@gazza29633 жыл бұрын
@@aurochf1 have built several CW buildings, the insulation is a thermal break. It takes alot for heat and cold to travel through the wood, but not through the lime. giving it a thermal break will make the inside more comfortable. obviously this only works if all thermal bridging is do in the construction
@aurochf13 жыл бұрын
@@gazza2963 I am sure you are right. My comment (not a concern, as the thermal break won't hurt) is because Valencia region is an area of warm climate and a wall that is 40cm thick may suffice. But, on second thought, It may also help with the heat!

working alone takes more time but not impossible! my words. bro I would do it the same way. may take a log or two then do the same technique with the rope and half way you can safe the frame on the logs take a break and then pull it up entirely. much love. keep on going. how are you going to do your waste water? can recommend a biodigestor.
