It’s kinda fun getting to know the insights and nuances of these characters. This mountain guy seems to retain a similar style of hope like the last guy, but comes from a different perspective. He was once all seeing and happy with his environment, but after “it” took that away, somewhat poetically, “it” and later he deemed his sight useless. He also seems makes different decisions on his hope in comparison to the other guy. While the last guy wished he could see other things and have other experience outside of the realm he’s in, He knows what has been presented to him will be ever consistent and has a level of acceptance for that. In pretty stark contrast though, the mountain person we see in this knows of better times where he was truly happy and now that those times have passed, he wishes not to live the existence of barren desert and gives the player the choice presented at the end. I don’t think this is him necessarily giving up his hope, but he doesn’t think he can continue staying hopeful while being in his current state. It nice to see the construction of deeply diverse characters and how they play off of a “Time has given me acceptance, but I wish for change” narrative, or at least that is what it seems. Still definitely quite interested to see where this all goes. It’s held my interest pretty well.
