@DurangoLegendАй бұрын
@@HakonJohansenKampen Why is that? Those graphics are fine and the greens, traps, trees, slopes and ponds are accurate. GSPro is supposedly eveybodys gold standard and the graphics are wildly inconsistent across courses. Not to mention that it costs a lot more and doesn't have hometown courses available. With HTH I can actually practice my local course all winter long. Can't do that with GSPro or E6. In my opinion E6 is the one that sucks. Can't even edit your golf bag and it doesn't have near the metrics and flexibility of display as the others. They just charge a lot and give you a very small subset of courses.
@HakonJohansenKampenАй бұрын
@@DurangoLegend Aesthetics is of course subjective, but the consensus seems to be that HTH is too cartoon-like. I don't think the graphics are improved enough to change that view. I like the idea of being able to play most of the courses you want, but my experience is that they are barely recognizable, and that kills the joy for me. I want more realism for my sim. I had both HTH, E6 (basic sub) and GSPro for a while, and after switching to GSPro I never looked back. If you prefer the graphics of the HTH, that's great for you, getting a cheaper subscription. Those types of programs only have like 50 courses that are hyper realistic. E6 having more than that. Each of those courses are made by hand. Hometown hero has like fuggin 40,000 courses or whatever. You can't make 40,000 courses hyper realistic. Its impossible. Theyre using super simplified models and textures so you can play more courses rather than having really good graphics with less courses. You have to choose one our technology will not allow otherwise. @lazerflavorАй бұрын
You can still add GSPro with an external PC, this is a great way to practice and play the layout of a local course that hasn’t been built on GSPro yet. You don’t lose anything by going with this system.

$5k is way too rich for my taste. It's nearly the cost of a private club membership. Two years from now when the competition has caught up this will cost half as much.
@JustMeAP1Ай бұрын
Competition (Foresight GC3, Uneekor QED, SkyTrak SIG10, Full Swing Protee) has "caught" up. But yeah, this disruptive market is still settling. But half price?!? Maybe in 5 to 10 years. Not 2.
@MikeBodoАй бұрын
@@JustMeAP1 This is no different than when HD TV's first came out. The cost of those came down quickly after two years, as there were a plethora of them to choose from. The launch monitor segment is no different. The fact you can buy a Bushnell monitor/simulator for fraction of the cost of what a GC Quad was two years ago, with just as good optics tells me everything I need to know. The launch monitor space is a very crowded one from a product standpoint, but isn't that big from a consumer standpoint. Anyone that's ever wanted an in-home launch monitor/simulator pretty much has one by now. All the manufacturers can hope for is getting people to upgrade, yet there's a glut of product on the market. In order to move it you're going to see prices drop substantially following the holiday's, as there hoping there's enough suckers out there willing to pay full prices between now and Christmas. When cabin fever sets on come Feb./March and people are looking for any opportunity to play golf outside you're going to see the price of these devices plummet. Not necessarily the new Garmin unit, but plenty of others.

I would have to completely disagree on high definition graphics. Tiger Woods golf from 1998 had better graphics and more detail than this. I understand they sent you this for free to try out and could be a paid promotion. But we can all see the graphics are well behind almost every other product out there.
@LetsPlayThruАй бұрын
I had to split out the signal to the projector and my screen recorder. So some of the details are actually lost in what you see here. I'll also mention Tiger Woods had about 15 courses to choose from. You've got 43,000+ here. Is it better than GSPro...no. Is it a major step up and actually decent...yes.

@@LetsPlayThruI am a Civil 3d designer and work with this stuff daily. The built in graphics card can't handle highly rendered objects and the reason it looks like a cartoon. The launch monitor side of the product looks to be great though.

just like every other launch monitor you'll buy a PC and other software if you want the high end graphics. This is for people who probably won't get hung up on amazing graphics and like being able to play any course they want. If they want a better software they'll have to pay just like we all do with other LM's

Hd cartoons? Still cartoons. Boy they missed it bad. For the money it either needed to be overhead unit, or have the processing power many think it has. It runs better hth, but to use anything with real graphics you must connect a gaming computer. At $5000 you still are buying a computer, then you move it so lefty can hit. Big pass for me, I don’t even need to test one in my channel to know! No way! Save the postage!
@JustMeAP1Ай бұрын
I like my "cartoons." But I still completely agree. Unlike anything before, but not in a good way. I'd prefer a unit that could be used behind or above, like the EYE EO, AND outside for $5,000. Yeah!
@DurangoLegendАй бұрын
Personally I prefer the simplified clean graphics that are consistent course to course than the mishmash of graphic quality that is the GSPro catalog. Sure some courses are rendered fantastic but maybe only 1 in 10. Many others look like crap. The HTH 43,000 courses all have a consistent clean high quality feel. Sure they aren't super realistic but they aren't cartoons like Awesome Golf and look how well Awesome Golf has been doing. Many people like myself just want to play courses that we can play in real life like our local courses. GSPro and E6 don't offer that and probably never will. HD quality is plenty good enough and not everything has to be reality to get enjoyment out of it. Sometimes the simpler the better. Where I think this product shines is in its ease of use and setup. You can go from pressing the on button to playing a round on practically any course around the world in less than 45 seconds. It takes me a good 15 minutes every time I start and calibrate my Mevo+ to play Awesome Golf or E6 on only a handful of courses that I will never be able to play in real life.
@JustMeAP1Ай бұрын
@@DurangoLegend "This product shines in ease of use and setup." You shouldn't be surprised to see that at this price level. It's what reviewers say of Tiger's Full Swing. Have you looked at anything else over $5k?
@DurangoLegendАй бұрын
@@JustMeAP1 Yes, I currently have a Mevo+ with pro package and face impact. With upgrades it's about $4000 and it pales in comparison to this unit in terms of capabilities, space requirements, and ease of use. I looked at the Eye EO but it was quite a bit more for a 3 camera version (about $8k), the 2 camera version is on sale right now for ($5600) but it isn't as accurate from what I have seen and it requires connection to a PC to be able to run any practice or play session. I just don't want to mess with PCs. Not a fan of windows PCs with all their spyware, tracking, and big brother Microsoft. Not to mention noise, heat, and power they use. The Garmin R50 seems to fill the bill and will work great in my setup. Plus I want to play my local courses in sim and they aren't offered in GSPro or E6.
@JustMeAP1Ай бұрын
@@DurangoLegend With any "pro" package, the Garmin R50 is thousands of dollars more costly. The Uneekor EYE XO is currently $5,600 and a better comparison. The Uneekor EYE XO comes with the VIEW software for free (and a free year of GSPro). Both View and GSPro put Garmin Practice (formally Range) to complete shame. The EYE XO is known for its high accuracy, with data readings over 95% accurate. At this price point, there's no data suggesting one is significantly better than any other. The Metro+ is the one that doesn't compete for accuracy. Not even close. There's just no impressive software without a PC. It's what really makes the R50 such a silly joke. At over $500, it's not the courses or games, but the PRACTICE software that matters.
@stevemobley9741Ай бұрын
The R50 $5,000 price point is a blunder. The less than $2,000 LM market demand is very high. The desire and purchasing power in the under $2,000 price point is where Garmin should have went. Most of the R10, MLMPro, Mevo+ and both Skytraks owners who have an established sim room setup 4K computers and projectors and nice sim bay, will not be looking to purchase the R50 for their next LM. Garmin's product marketers need to start following the growing Golf Sim world. The R50 brings high-end capabilities at a more accessible price point, for those who want the advanced data and insights of top-tier LM without spending $10,000. Okay, R50 is a great unit however just how big is that market demand? R50 will sell early because it is the new shiny toy for those with money and then the R50 will fade. The built in screen for sim play is a Turn off. I have a stand with wireless keyboard and mouse 2 steps away from where I hit, no bending over. Most sim room have setup where their controls are close by and easy to use without bending over.
@LetsPlayThruАй бұрын
I was hoping for them to roll something out at $1,999 too. But I think they have already cornered the lower end with R10 and they wanted a high tier product that was groundbreaking. I do think we may see a mid-tier product offering from them down the road, just like they did with golf watches. They had low cost and high cost and the S42 mid range came out later.
@SpikesbluecollargolfАй бұрын
@@LetsPlayThruGabe I expected them to come out under $2000 would sell a lot. Garmin is blown out by Square now most likely. I would never go back, lol Still needing a gaming computer for anything past hth, will stop many! If it would play those natively, then it would be a $4999 deal!

I doubt Garmin will regret pricing this device the way they did. They know the market better than anyone and I suspect they will sell thousands of these units. Perhaps hundreds of thousands as I don't know how big the sim all in one market is. All I know is they sold out the first batch fast and the second batch is getting ready to come out but with preorders only right now.
