Im in the beginning stages of replacing my 20 yr old dual pain windows with retrofitted units. Im in disbelieve how much these guys want and how full of b.s. some of them are. Dude you are amazing for sharing this info. Not everyone has an exstra 20,000 laying around to pay for windows to be installed. I think im in the wrong profession.

Thanks, you’re helping us save our budget! You can lower humidity more by using AC. Warming the air will allow air to hold more moisture

We’re located in New Hampshire this project was done middle of winter less than 30 degrees out 👉the heating unit is a 199k btu space heater which utilizes a flame tube and fan and direct vent.

Also does the spacing material come in different widths? And is the tool your using work for any thickness that you need to align the spacer to the edge of the glass? Ty for your time I showing this I couldn’t imagine how much you got quoted in your glass fixtures I tell ya for a 8x12 tempered glass for a 15 windo pane door was 250$! So I’d say prob 10-20 arms and legs bub

Yes absolutely we needed an overall 1” thickness for our aluminum frames this spacer is 5/8” with our 3/16” glass. Yes that tool has height adjustment for the varying spacer widths

We work In commercial construction some jobs are new some are existing with rehab. (usually glass goes in the dumpster). Many Many nice materials are just thrown away. With permission on a saturday morning my father and i were allowed to the take all the glass before the building was demolished.

@@BostonMark thanks for the reply. Just wondering how profitable would it be if I started a business that only made IGU units? Would it still require a glaziers license just to sell the glass?

@@l0I0I0I0 anytime brother. You can do it just Go for it. It’s the sealant that’s doing all the work. The units they make now are so thin ( glass thickness) Big joke looks like a funhouse We used 3/16”. Has a nice soundproofing to it.

@@BostonMark Yes I hope to build a house one day, and windows is a big part of it. I especially love the glass they has a thin wire mesh in side for added strength. Where are you located?
