I've never had luck with drive shafts at pick 'n pulls. They always mess them up with the fork lifts!

Don't know if you'll read this being how I'm watching your video 10 days after you posted it. I'm not exactly sure about old Caddy's but I found on Facebook market place a 1958 4door Cadillac Sedan Deville in Morriston, Florida. It's a distance from Texas but what's interesting is the other what appears to be Cadillacs around it also, and the windshield isn't broken on the 58 Caddy.

Delete your scratch built front rails. Graft a Front Wheel Drive El Dorado system onto Mabel. Problem solved-no driveshaft needed. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!!! 🤣J/K (of course). I don't even know if ya could air bag a Eldo!

Don't know if you solve the problem on the drive shaft but what about a four-wheel drive they have that part I think that you're looking for that goes from the middle of the vehicle to the rear axel and from the middle of vehicle to the transmission I don't know it's just a thought

I just made it home from a long trip from Switzerland to France and back in our (quiet) 65 Pontiac Bonneville convertible My wife complains when my cars are to loud. She says she s ashamed because of the (hyper boring) neighbourhood. It seems your wife prefers it a little less descent. Regulation in Switzerland make it impossible to have really loud stuff anyway. The sound on our tuned Catalina with flowmasters had to be castrated with silencing mufflers.

That has to be the most amazing drive ever. I know to use is probably boring. But to me that would be absolutely amazing. Most Harley Davidson’s around here don’t have any mufflers at all. Just straight exhaust it gets pretty obnoxious.

@@Theoldironworkshop You know we are so God damn spoilt where I live. Little space, but Nature is absolutely stunning. When I drive with my oldtimers I can reach five big lakes within 40 minutes. some are chrystal clear and over 600 feet deep.The Alps 20 miles to the East and another mountain range, the Jura that separates Switzerland and France, 30 miles to the West. I always go there nearly every weekend. People are laid back in the French part of Switzerland and France itself and they love old cars. Yesterday I took a very curvy and quite narrow mountain road. If you are not used to drive on mountain roads with a giant landyacht, that is quite a challenge. But I used to drive in those places with Army trucks from the Fifties without and power steering. And trailers as well. You know we pay at least 8 $ pre gallon. So it is not really cheap neighter. But it is FUN! In July my entire family will fly to the States. There I have a 63 Impala and we will make a trip from Minnesota west to Northern California and Oregon. My wife does not like the huge distances and tells me that Switzerland and Northern Italy are at least that beautiful. But the States have space for wildlife and I like driving through a whole lot of nothing in a classic car.

Yes, every time I look at pictures of that part of the world it kind of irritates me that my family left Sweden and moved here. Texas itself is probably as big as Europe. If you go anywhere, it takes hours and hours to get out of the state. I wish you luck on your road trip when you get here that sounds like a pretty darn good time. That portion of the country really is pretty.

@@Theoldironworkshop We nearly have the contrary problem: Where I live we can reach Germany and France in about an hour, Italy in less than three hours and Austria wll be about the same. Fighter jets must watch out not to cross the border. When I was in the Army, our tanks and artillery invaded France more than once. The Borders in those hills are often very unclear. At least you are aware that Switzerland and Sweden are two different countries. Is is a fact than many Americans do not know the difference. Sweden must be a great country in summer, but I would hate the long and icy cold winters there. Fun fact: My darkest female cousin lives in Stockholm. Well my uncle had a lot of Italian blood. In spite of having a daughter with a Swedish mother, the dark side won.

I’m a pilgrim and unholy land I’m not really in my element. Although I did find out recently, I probably just bought one off Amazon like everything else. It is currently in the works. The biggest problem is I went to the driveshaft guy here in town who has made like six driveshafts for me and I was following his advice. Which apparently was all garbage.
