Wet Dreams ain’t corny. It’s just an awkward subject and Cole does a great job telling a story about it. He shows his vulnerability through this track. No other rappers would have the balls to talk about this topic and deliver it so well.

Yea it’s literally cole writing from the perspective of a teenager, of course he’s not going to be mature, he wasn’t mature at that age and he’s depicting that in the song, of course it sounds corny if you are taking it as a mature adult rapper talking about his meat but that’s not what the song is

2014 FHD is culturally a classic , and it is a coming to age album that makes you think that no matter how far you came you can’t give up on what you truly want and love how you grinding right now because it is the pure form of you. If 2014 Fhd is Cole album talking about coming of age then 4YEO is Cole on his grown man ish and understanding responsibility of his actions .. 2014 FHD hits different till this day, even tho the off season is not Cole best work and I kinda lost faith in his work he still made a album better than 2014 FHD and that was 4YEO and I think the fall off will be more better than that.

Seems like I just have pretty similar tastes to Luca, I also take the side of NWTS as well as MBDTF in the last one. This series is pure gold
@landonbehrendt25533 жыл бұрын
Long Comment: Not starting an argument. Just wondering, what do you think is superior about MBDTF compared to TPAB? I personally lean on the side of TPAB but I really want to hear your perspective. I do enjoy the production of MBDTF more than TPAB but I think they’re closer and more comparable than people make out. In fact, it’s hard to compare the grandiose and booming production of Fantasy to the Jazz-Rap production of TPAB. I don’t personally think that TPAB has a miss and while I can’t say MBDTF misses, it does have a few weaker spots when you look into relativity. Of course, when you have tracks like Runaway which are widely considered some of the best of all time, tracks that are slightly weaker like Blame Game are going to seem worse than they really are. That being said, even with songs like The Blacker The Berry, u, and How Much A Dollar Cost?, there are still no tracks that really stand out as weaker than the rest. I believe these are the two best albums of that decade and I’d just like to know why you put Fantasy above it?
@coastercraziness3 жыл бұрын
@@landonbehrendt2553 I’d love to give you my perspective! To me production comes pretty much above all, unless the lyrics are complete crap. Lyrics matter a lot to me too, but production matters slightly more to me. MBDTF, while not having the narrative complexity of TPAB, still does a fantastic job speaking on the issues it does speak on and has some very introspective tracks as well as some big bangers and amazing verses. And I mean when it comes to production MBDTF beats all for me. TPAB is amazing too don’t get me wrong. That album is also super well produced and is lyrically stronger than MBDTF, but I just enjoy MBDTF more. No song on TPAB can compete with the top 5 on MBDTF for me (LITW, DIAND, Runaway, Gorgeous, and Hell Of A Life). I will say TPAB is more consistent quality wise, but You Ain’t Gotta Lie is worse than any song on MBDTF for me personally (and I don’t love So Appalled). Just it’s a matter of a harder hitting subject matter (I can’t directly relate to a lot of the things on racial injustice on TPAB and MBDTF touches on a bit more that I can at least relate too), much better production (although TPAB is immaculately produced), and just the fact that TPAB is so much harder to listen to. Both are incredible, but MBDTF lines up with what I like in music the most. That’s why it’s my all time favorite album!

I think 2014 Forest Hills Drive blows Nothing Was The Same out of the water. 2014 Forest Hills Drive has a way better concept and lyrical content as well as explaining that concept as if it’s a movie. I feel when I listen to 2014 Forest Hills Drive it’s like a soundtrack to his life. I have to disagree with Luca on a few things 1 being J Coles melodic performances on the album, I absolutely love his singing on apparently and I actually prefer that song over almost all songs on Nothing Was The Same. Also have to disagree with the Wet Dreamz take, that song is incredible and definitely fits the tracklist. Also I actually really enjoy Note To Self. I feel production is a huge thing for 2014 FHD I totally agree with everything with Anthony said with how it fits the vibe and the tracklist and all that. I definitely feel the production is a massive add for this album! Also Tale Of 2 Cityz i do think is the best produced song out of both records, or GOMD. I also think in this case the production being by J Cole does add to the tracklist. And im sorry Luca but 2014 FHD is absolutely 100% not boring production wise. Honestly it’s some of my favourite production ever. When it comes to impact yes Nothing Was The Same was huge for that kinda R&B/ Rap but FHD is what artists still to this day look at when wanting to make a strictly Rap album. Also if you look at sales J Cole still sold 361k first week and he did no promotion what’s so ever he announced it 2 weeks before and that was it. The only “promotion” he did was not even him doing it his song Fire Squad was leaked. If you wanna talk impact song wise I can name so many songs on FHD that have had an impact not just on me but on thousands very well millions of people. Songs like Love Yourz for example. Literally every song on 2014 FHD is better conceptually. 2014 I think blows NWTS out of the water when it comes to touching people. Luca talked about Not liking Note To Self. The message in this song is very impactful and all he did was sang for a bit. Overall I think 2014 is a better project and I think it sweeps NWTS. NWTS is a great project but I don’t think it touches 2014 FHD. The only way it beats it is numbers. I think Anthony win this one sorry Luca, man I love this series. Also my opinion might be slightly bias because 2014 FHD is in my top 2 favourite albums of all time interchangeable with FYEO. Overall I just think NWTS can’t touch 2014 FHD. Sorry I wrote like a whole essay 😂😂😂. Great Video Guys!!!

@@caseykash9867 lol Cole is overrated as hell lyrically(still really good)but because he only raps and his subject matter is considered conscious and drakes isn’t so Cole Is deem better lyrically lmaoo Tuscan leather and POUNDCAKE /Paris Morton 2 kills anything on fhd. Now … connect is a better song in terms of lyrics and production than any track on fhd even doe it’s not really a rap song .

NWTS aged well with time & thats the definition of a classic how drake manifested hw he was gonna be at the top & it happened drake album flew over peoples’ heads Forest hills drive was a gd one 1st listen but we all know what pound cake means to the hiphop community ☝️
@angelusgnz57843 жыл бұрын
No role modelz, wet dreamz, love yourz, 03 adolescence, and take of two citiez ALONE as 5 tracks are better than 80% of drakes catalog and that’s not biased at all. I prefer to listen to drake more OFTEN but 2014FHD adds something to coles discography that drake doesn’t have and is still chasing to this day: a CLASSIC album.
