I love how transparent and open the Nothing brand is. You don't get CEOs of other companies doing this AT ALL, and he admits that it's a good phone, another thing you will never see CEOs doing. And I like how he openly admits that they have things to work on. This is the mark of a very good company. And a company who listens, and good customer service. This makes me want to buy a Nothing phone. Hopefully this does not change as they grow.

@@ayushbhatt2861 nah they just neglected the OxygenOS fans. Everything else that is their in Oneplus 11 is catered towards the audience who want a phone with flagship specs under 800$ with the brand name of Oneplus. In real life, very less people gives a shit about whether it's running OxygenOS or ColorOS. The thing that matters to them is the smoothness, stability and features of an UI
@ayushbhatt2861
@ayushbhatt2861 Жыл бұрын
@@dragonforcegaming7555 Yeah that's what I'm talking about, OxygenOs is just a medium to complaint about the UI experience which OnePlus is neglecting, OnePlus UI has now become shit, bugs are everywhere, glitches are not so common, ram management is mess
@dragonforcegaming7555
@dragonforcegaming7555 Жыл бұрын
@@ayushbhatt2861 Yeah bugs are indeed a problem but if you look in the past, then you will see Bugs has always been a part of OnePlus since OxygenOS. Sometimes they even used to introduce bugs like apple did to slow down the phone. Glitches are common for every UI. Even iOS has glitches. That thing cannot be dealt with. The maximum they can do is reduce the amount of glitches but again most of these glitches aren't UI related, it's app related. So app developers do need a bit of criticism. As for Ram management, I didn't hear any complaints about that with OnePlus devices. I used the 10 pro and even there I didn't experience any ram management issues. The issues I experienced was a screen freezing bug(I experienced this on OxygenOS 10 too but this time it was less than OOS10). Ram management has been an issue with FuntouchOS not with ColorOS.

The problem is markets in developed countries are dominated by carriers leasing expensive flagship phones on multi-year plans, while markets in developing countries will still find the Nothing phone too expensive as a one-time purchase compared to low-end phones and mid-range competition. It boggles the mind how this company is still afloat designing and selling phones.

By far Oneplus 7 Pro is their masterpiece. Symmetric design in the back (cameras in the centre!), unobstructive clean front screen (no punch hole cemera!), polished Oxygen OS (I'm still using v11, completely bug free, rock solid stability!). Oh and useful camera set up - really love 3x zoom, though I wish it had more zoom. The feature set, design... the phone overall is simply sublime. I think Oneplus 7 pro will be a future classic. I bought the phone brand new years ago and I'm still using it daily in 2023 and still loving it.

Actually that's the default Android behaviour... ColorOS (pretentiously called OxygenOS on OnePlus phones) is a garbage implementation that takes regular Android and throws the basics out of the window in favour of dumb gimmicks. What he said about the scroll down annoys me to no end, and I agree completely that the old OxygenOS (the original implementation of Android on OnePlus devices based on Cyanogen Mod) should come back and ColorOS should go back to China.

I like how Carl pointed out things the average person would likely never notice like the camera module surround that meets the frame initially looking one piece but actually is two pieces meeting together or the mis-aligned volume rocker button and vibration slider. I also appreciate his assessment of the OS and little things that reflect the OS's origins being Chinese and how certain things like the clock and having space to write out Chicago but chose not to. I'm very interested to see Nothing's flagship device later this year cause if Carl can obsess over small details on the Phone 1 like how fast apps open and close, minor details that a large OEM would never think twice about then I'm excited to see with much better hardware, how much better that experience can be.

@SAK.124
@SAK.124 Жыл бұрын
@@Lionsheartification problem is most of the features are actually gimmicks. You might use them once or twice every 2 weeks but mostly you don't. However these features degrade the phones reliability. Doesn't matter what brand it is, customizability almost always ruins reliability because quite frankly they are counterintuitive, atleast from a coding standpoint. I used to love customization till a few years ago (vivo funtouch, oppo color os, miui etc) but they came with way too many bugs.
@LittleWhole
@LittleWhole Жыл бұрын
@@SAK.124 This is just my personal opinion, and I respect yours, but I find it hard to support this viewpoint when operating systems that don't offer as many features aren't offering a more reliable experience. Switching from a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro to a Galaxy Z Fold 3 when it was $1000 off on Amazon Prime Day was one of the worst decisions I've made. Samsung's One UI lacks so many basic features that I've taken for granted on my Mi 10 Pro and the lack of any appreciable aesthetic design flair makes the whole experience very boring and unpleasant to use. I have the top-specced Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung's UI still frequently stutters and bugs (including a camera bug where the camera will just randomly crash or will not load and after a few seconds show an error message saying "Couldn't connect to camera") even when I'm not using any folding phone features. The lack of native customization means you have to use buggy and ill-suited third party options that have questionable support, and it means certain features, if you're lucky, can only be turned on or off and not modified. I'm stuck with the Z Fold 3 because it supports US cell bands which was the main reason I switched off of my Mi 10 Pro which has poor US support, but if there was a hypothetical Xiaomi phone with decent US support, I would switch to it.

@@Lionsheartificationit will look boring for those who like extremes but these days as Carl always says, phones just need to be reliable nowadays, lag free. Customization is not really sought after by the majority, and that majority is really growing in numbers year by year.

Been using the OnePlus 6t McLaren for the past 4.5 years, and a heavy user, from watching movies, listening to music, taking so many photos and videos, talking for hours on end in work meets. One of the best smartphones I've used till date. Its a bit laggy now for obvious reasons. Sad that there's no more updates since the past year, and I eventually have to upgrade, but the build, the screen, the UI, perfection. I'll keep the phone instead of going for the exchange., which I usually do when getting a new phone. A little treasure it is.

That's not an issue with the OS. It's a restriction with the ColorOS launcher. The launcher thinks you want to remain in the app drawer that's why it doesn't let you close it. But it technically takes 1 edge swipe or bottom swipe to close it. So it's not as much of a huge deal as Carl makes it look like. Every launcher has some annoyances of their own. Even Nothing Launcher has many annoyances.
