Obtaining a visa this way will never be 100% legal. Because the money is not in your account for the requested period. If you want to renew by yourself the following year, you may have to pay big time to the coffee box at immigration. Because they might check your balance from last year. Happened to a friend of mine.
@notime2bsadАй бұрын
If you ultimately do not want to bring money over for the year you will have to go back and have the law office extend it. Are you an immigration attorney?

I used a company when we applied for a visa so my wife could move to my home country and they were fantastic, met us, took us everywhere we needed to go, got married, had all the documents translated etc, so will definitely be using the company you talk about when i finally get to Thailand for good. Just come back actually after a 4 week stay there in Udon Thani. Thanks Chuck. Oh! and Happy Birthday!!

Got my pensioner VISA 2 weeks ago now good for 10 years. As long as I go through the airport within 1 year no check in required. Took a few weeks going back and forth on the immigration website to verify my passive income. After that it was very easy.

Good video Chuck, over the years I have found my immigration office extremely easy to deal with, but as you said some are hard and some are easy. I always do my visa extensions myself, I have the Non O based on marriage to a Thai National, it is a bit of paperwork, but if you are organized it is very easy. I am normally in and out of immigration in usually 45 minutes. I always do my 90 day report in person as immigration is close by and I have good relationships with the officials in there. But everyone is different, that is just my experience.
@DanielReiter-t3t21 күн бұрын
Retirement in Cambodia is much easier than in Thailand. You just need to do two things: 1. Get a visa on arrival at the airport or land border. Be sure to tell immigration you want to retire there. Do not get a tourist visa. A tourist visa will only be valid for one month a can only be extended for one month. Ask for a retirement visa. It’s good for one month but can easily be extended for a year. Cost of the entry visa is around $50. The year extension is $295. Hardly any paperwork at a travel agent. Give him the money and he does everything. Your retirement visa will be available in about 10 days. Go to a travel agent yearly with $295. No bank bullshit or immigration office or 90 day reporting.

Back in the day when I was doing the Visa runs, it was always nice to go to a new country every three months. I've been to them all now so I do the assisted way of doing it. We just applied for and received our 5-year Destination Thailand visas. Did it on Thai e-visa website - easy peasy - took two days. We're coming in 10 days. If it works like they intended the DTV may make other visa less desirable - do you think? Its multi-entry, stay for 180 days and renewable for another 180 days (once) then you have to do a border run every 180 days. No bank deposits required. You have to apply outside Thailand. For us it will be 6 months in Thailand and six months back home. Gets you out of paying as many taxes also.

There is another Thailand retirement visa valid for up to 10 years that does not require bank deposits, no 90 day reporting and it protects you against potential income tax liabilities (for foreign sources income). Unfortunately the qualifications can be difficult to achieve for some. For those with the passive income that meet the visa requirements, it is by far the best visa available for retirees (even better than the privilege/elite visa). It’s the long term residence visa or LTR. You can apply for it online and if approved can get the visa paperwork before you even arrive in Thailand. Apply for it at the Thailand Board of Investment. 😊
@pierrekingbkkАй бұрын
I also have the LTR visa cost super reasonable at 50’000 baht but it is important to mention that the LTR visa requires a minimum income of 80’000USD per annum otherwise you will not have the LTR so unfortunately many retirees unable to get this visa .
@Mark-yo5ueАй бұрын
@@pierrekingbkk Agree Pierre, the passive income requirements will preclude many from qualifying, but if you can qualify, the LTR is the best retirement visa (in my humble opinion). Glad to hear you also got the LTR. Very good decision!

Still a bit confused Chuck. You say the agent/attorney puts up the 800k baht to deposit in your new Thai bank account to meet the visa requirement. That being real money, I assume you pay the agent/attorney back at some point after you get tur visa, outside of the initial visa acquisition effort as a business arrangement between you and the agent after you transfer your own 800k into your Thai bank account from the US with which to pay the agent back.
