I also switched back to Apple Notes for simplicity. You have shortcuts like: "cmd - shift - T, H or J" to change to headings size. You can press "cmd - shift - C" to change colors. Another very useful for me is: "cmd - option - C" you can copy and save styles and paste them with "cmd - option - V". The style is saved throughout the entire notes and also if the app is closed. That way you can make everything cohesive.

I have tried to start to use Notion few times but I always seem to use more time to configure/setup notion than what I use for actual use. So I have always went back to Apple Notes because with that I can just use my time to write notes and it works I don't need to spend time to configure/setup and then write notes. I know that Notion has more features but if I don't use or need them they are completely useless for me.

👆 100% this. If it works for you to take quick notes always best to use what works. I still use pen and a notebook for so many things. Took me a bit of time to get into a flow with Notion so I can relate to the "configure/setup" time in Notion can be a blocker for people. I'll add that, for me at least, with Notion going back in after I quickly take the note to "clean it up" / "make it look good" is part of what makes it valuable. Instead of me quickly putting it down somewhere that I never come back to - with Notion I end up coming back in to organize / categorize / simplify what I've written.

@Johnny if it works - IT works! Simple is often better.

I've been using Notion for about 2 years now, and I finally gave up. There's too much friction when using the app. Something simple like the Apple Notes it's what 90% of the people really need. Yes, it's cool to build your own dashboard center with every page being aesthetic and eye catching, but after a while if you just want to look up something it's a pain in the a** to do so.

I love Notion and have primarily used it for years, but your video comparing the two apps was not fair at all. You can format in Apple Notes using shortcut commands, making formatting and making bullet lists even faster than in Notion. You can definitely use bullet points in Apple Notes, but you just didn't seem to want to look up the commands or open the format menu which looks like a "Aa" which contains lots of formatting styles including bullet points that do change dynamically. You can also change the font in Apple Notes to any font you want, while in Notion you can only pick from 3 fonts. You can change the color of any text using the command Cmd+C or just open the Font dropdown list and then open Show Color. I feel like you spent 30 seconds using Apple Notes before making this video. Overall Apple Notes gives you way more formating option than Notion since you can individually change the size of any text to any size and change any text to any color. Notion only gives you a few sizes and colors to choose from. Apple Notes also gives you the ability to securely protect any note behind a password or Touch ID/Face ID, Notion does not even have this feature.

Good features callout and fair criticism! 👍For the way I use my workflows Notion collects everything so it works well for me but Apple Notes does seem to work great for others.

I’m using Apple notes a lot now days because I always nail on notion. But funny thing is every time I dabble with notion I get more and more comrade and learn something new every time. although for courses I’m using Apple notes as my primary method, along with random notes, I hate the lack of features and ai capabilities. I think I’m going to very soon use Apple notes as just my quick capture, and notion is work horse

i think the folder management is much better in notion. You can set your own icons for your folders and pages in notion, meanwhile in apple notes all the folders look the same so it's hard to know which is which at a glance. It's a big bummer for me.

You can change the font, colour, and bullet style on Apple Notes. Just do right-click!

notion just feels convoluted for a note taking app

What notion is really missing for me is 3 things: - Offline Mode (the app's experience is crippled if you don't have internet: like on an airplane) - Note Password Protection (this would be useful for more sensitive information) - The ability to draw with a stylus like the Apple Pencil If notion had these 3 things there is no doubt in my mind it would completely blow any other note taking app out of the water. Still, because these are lacking, apple notes remains the better option for some cases. Nevertheless I still think Notion is better and more organised overall and it's definitely my preferred note taking app.

Agree on all of these especially the offline mode - for notes. Apple pencil you can use but it is a bit hacky I have a video on this! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIvIlaKeZqyFbM0 100% agree on Notion being my #1 as well. Great ideas!

Thank you! Great comparison. Funny, the thing with the arrow bothers me a lot, even it is such a small detail. I don't understand why apple doesn't make their notes app better. They could easily. 👎🏽

So many easy opportunities for Apple to improve notes! Like so many other pieces of software I use it is often these little things that add up to such a beautiful experience when using them - "it just works" 👍🏼

Yo man Bold is no stars around words like in Notion. For Apple notes use Command + B - its faster than Notion. For bullets in Apple use a star and press space. Apple notes also has better link options as of now. Both are good just a little different.

You are clearly biased while pretending to not be. I'm a huge fan of both but this is just pathetic. Apple Notes can change the color and background of text in the Mac of the application (the one you are using for a comparison). Apple Notes also supports headers and sub headers (something you completely leave out) Apple Notes does support the similar block style link (obviously not as nice as Notion, but it should still be mentioned, it even includes highlights you make on the page)

Notion is the winner for note taking in my opinion - even better if you make a custom shortcut on iOS to quickly get to your "Notes" page 💪
