A somewhat humorous/satirical look into the pilots of the BattleTech/Mechwarrior Universe. This video will cover the major events within the timeline that have been reported both in the games, sourcebooks, novels, videos, etc...

I adore the phantom mech ability. The writers can't even *bother* to write up the plot armor. It's just, "meh. All misses. The hero is fine."

I will admit that it was early on in the novels when they were trying to figure out what was allowed and what wasn't allowed in terms of lore. Its why we get the Phantom Mech Ability, Plot Armor, and talking bird-like aliens that then turned out to be one-offs since we never saw them again.

From what I’ve seen people debate upon his “no hit” ability, Morgan likely had a very advanced ECM suite on his mech to jam targeting from enemies, or his mech had stealth armour. Stealth armour wouldn’t be made until the late 3060s so it’s unlikely to be that. ECM though could be the technology installed on his mech given it would be considered losttech. But it’s still a mystery as no confirmed source declares what his mech had in internal systems beyond the standard outfit.

Yeah and they even played this up in Shrapnel #1, "Yesterday's Enemy", in which Jason Youngblood is talking with Morgan saying "You have to tell me one day how you do that phantom mech thing" to which Morgan just smiles knowingly and doesn't go into detail about it.

@@NewsOfTheInnerSphere I remember reading that. There are great moments in the Battletech books that I wish got adapted into games. Ever read "Wolves on the Boarder" or "Heir to the Dragon"? Both are well worth getting and going through. Each painting both the Wolf's Dragoons and Draconics Combine in a light not seen outside or inside the verse.

We know how it works from the Kell Hounds sourcebook: it's a combination of mental qualities, genetics and circumstances. I hate that it's been quantified, but it's been quantified.

The phantom mech ability has rules in a source book. Morgan opponent , a kuritan, also has it. The rules do say if you use it you have to retire the player. Would find the book but my dog is lying on my lap/chest and his sleep is my important.

While working on a story for Shrapnel, I realized that there is a 50/50 chance that any given Lyran noble in the past 100 years has spent his entire life training to be Morgan Kell.

I published One Thousand in issue 12, but the thought occurred to me while working on my next story, which is about Grand Duke Ludwig Steiner. I figured he'd spent pretty much his entire life comparing himself to Morgan even though that's absolutely not fair for somebody who's like 19.
