➤ ABOUT US: Hi! We’re Nick & Raychel, the couple behind the blog Not Luxe - where we write travel guides & help people open their eyes to alternative living, whether that be teaching English online, moving to Cambodia, taking advantage of working holiday visas (like in Australia) or building a DIY stealthy camper van to live & work on the road. Right now, we’re living the van life and travelling throughout Canada, Mexico and the USA.
Our goal here is to bring you weekly content where we hope to inspire you to break free & live the life you desire. On this channel, we talk everything from finances to minimalism to working online to mindset and post a weekly vlog of our daily lives. We hope you join us on our journey to see the world, save money, live minimally, and most importantly, have fun.
So if you're looking for a channel about van life and budget travel, you're in the right place.
Love,
That couple that lives in an ambulance

Nick & Raychel, your video about transitioning out of van life after three years is both insightful and relatable. Sharing your decision to move on and pursue a different lifestyle is a brave step, and your openness about the challenges and rewards of van life provides valuable insights for your viewers. It's clear that you've put a lot of thought into your decision, considering factors like mental health and the desire for stability. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Congrats guys, New Zealand sounds like a dream!! Can’t wait for the Bali trip in the spring too🌴 So many good points in this video. Seconding that taking care of your mental health is soo important, and so easy for it to accidentally end up on the back burner if you’re always on the go.

Ah congrats on selling and good luck on your new adventure! Can't wait to see the vlogs! Thanks for answering my question - I always love to hear your thoughts and reflections on travel & van life! I've been watching your channel for a while now, your approach to travel actually inspired me and my partner to go travelling for 6 months around Asia and Europe! Thank you for always sharing your journey ♥

Congratulations on the move. You will absolutely LOVE it there. Reminded me of home (Canada) between the two islands when I was there. West coast and east coast. There are more sheep than people. Must see is Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound. If you can, get to Tasmania Island. Castle Hill, Lake Pukaki and New Chum beach to name a few. Bungee and skydiving in Queenstown. Best place for adventure trips. Best place to move to other than Canada. It has everything. Post everything. Want to see what has changed when I was last there.

This hit home for me about meeting and saying goodbye to friends on the road, with me moving to Cambodia at the end of the year. Other people that have been English teachers, said that English teachers are always moving on, after a year or two. Also about showering in a van, "Hobo Ahle" used to always take showers in her Honda Civic with her boyfriend. She used a children's swimming pool and a pump weed sprayer. It was very interesting!

My partner and I moved to NZ (Mārahau on the South Island) for 6 months after only a couple months of knowing each other, been together a year now and its going amazingly. We lived in a caravan there during the whole time and are planning to get a short bus and build it out (we view it as a temporary thing since we did the caravan living thing pretty well together.) you will absolutely love it! You're going at the perfect time of year to get settled just in time for Summer there! I'm so jealous, we went last year in October and got back in April. I miss it every day!

I saw you buy the Range Rover, am not sure why YT recommended your channel to me, possibly because I've followed van lifers previously in the States and Canada, and that you had landed yourselves in my homeland. So I came back a few videos to get a grasp on what you guys were all about. I did agree with a commenter (also from here in one of the Range Rover Vids) that said you'd enjoy the road trips here - most every one does - such spectacular scenery to both the visitor or locals alike, and too with the advice, not to leave valuables on display when your car is unattended, shamefully that's a reality of life here now. It didn't used to be like that. I'm in the Nth Is, I've now sub'd - liking each I see, comment as and when. It'll be interesting to get an insight into how you both view my homeland as you travel the country. Enjoy your time here. Am well traveled myself, happy to suggest places to visit if I see you in areas where there might be something not so commonly known - am sure you'll find plenty though to keep you excited. For interest: When measuring timber. We'd here call it 3 by 1 not 1 by 3 - referring to the timber you bought for your bedding framework. And 30.5cm is 12 inches < for your conversions metric to imperial for measuring - Many Kiwi's too also use both, we converted to Metrics in the 1976, I remember the relearning halfway through my schooling. Cheers from 🇳🇿 😎M.

I did a working holiday in NZ! I discovered quickly that accommodation is super expensive, but buying a used car and camping was the most cost effective. Buying and selling a car there is super easy compared to Canada.

I know this could be a long answer but what are some general reasons why you are moving to New Zealand
@nickandraychel
@nickandraychel 10 ай бұрын
The main reason is that we can work there!! We’re going on a working holiday visa. The next main reason is the outdoors/nature/landscapes there look STUNNING and we hope to road trip around the country!

@@nickandraychel better get citizenship when you are young because you certainly won't be able to buy your way in its very expensive country to immigrate to if you don't qualify for the points when you are older.
@nickandraychel
@nickandraychel 10 ай бұрын
We aren’t seeking citizenship. We’re moving there for a few years. It’s called a Working Holiday Visa and it allows us to live and work in the country legally for 2 years - though you can extend and get PR. My best friend has been living there for 6 years after entering on a WHV.
