He was certainly known as Biggie Smalls, and I believe that was his original stage name however he was sued by someone who was using "Biggie Smallz" as their stage name already. So while he was not officially Biggie Smalls, but rather The Notorious B.I.G. after this people have always referred to him as Biggie Smalls in an unofficial capacity as an alternate nickname.

I loved both and still my 2 favorite...pac was deeper than big and I also just a talented person I truly believe he could've been an accomplished actor...as far as the pure art of rapping, just pen pad and a beat(even tho he didn't really write his rhymes just off tip of his head) Big is my all time greatest

@@biggdocc6244 because that was his main priority especially coming from NY, pacs main priority was getting his message across, that's why I think you shouldn't compare the 2, because they have totally different styles, it's not who's better, it's what you prefer, me personally prefer the real jewels by PAC, rather than the technique of it

Just a little fun fact: When Biggie says “BABY BAAABEH” he actually took that from 2Pac cause Tupac says THUG LIFE BAAAABY he said that before even biggie starting rapping and biggie even copies 2Pac’s style in clothes and rap flow then turned against pac when biggie gotten bigger in the rap game and pac was mad when he realised biggie was ignoring pac even though pac helped out biggie to start rapping

The beat is a sample from a song called Juicy Fruit. That was Puffy's style: heavy samples from 70s and 80s pop and R&B.

A classic song about going from rags to riches. The street scenes are from the Brooklyn block where he grew up, I still live in the area now, his street was renamed after him, and there's multiple murals to him in the area, he's a well celebrated Brooklyn icon. He was Diddy's biggest artist at the time, and Diddy was/is very egotistical, intent on being just as famous and getting just as much credit for the music, so he made sure to put himself in many of his artist's songs and videos, so expect to see his face a lot as you go through 90s hiphop. The rivalry between Diddy's Bad Boy co. and Suge Knight's Death Row records first became very public when Suge spoke at an award show and mocked Diddy for putting himself in the videos. There's multiple documentaries about the rivalry and the Biggie and 2Pac's deaths. "Murder Rap" was one that seemed thorough, but I haven't seen all of them, and of course, some people that were there disagree with it's accuracy. There's a lot of interviews of people who were there too, here on youtube. To me, it was 2 initially separate, unrelated conflicts that got intertwined. You could easily spend hours/days watching videos on the whole subject.

Puffy discovered Biggie. He produced most of his songs. They were close friends. Puffy's biggest song was probably I'll Be Missing U, written after Biggie's murder. Some criticized him for profiting on the tragedy.

Let me just set some things straight. The first time Pac got shot he had insulted a major NYC gangster who had already warned Pac's friends that he was going after Pac to discipline him. So I don't believe Diddy or BIG had anything to do with the Quad studio shooting. But the 2nd time when Pac was fatally shot, a lot of people believe it was a hit paid for by Diddy. Sources say that Diddy owed the south side crips who shot Pac 1 million dollars. This later caused a stir between the crips and Diddy, presumably because he didn't pay.
