The core of this problem - apart from some people being terrible obv - is that many parents confuse KZbin with TV. It's really not, and young children should not be on here unsupervised. With TV there's an accountable organisation deciding exactly what gets shown and at what time or with an age restriction. KZbin is only controlled through algorithms and reporting, neither of which are remotely good enough to determine what your kids see. My kids didn't get screens they could use by themselves until they were about 12, and I think I was pretty lax. Gen Alpha has been let down.
@oprahsgreasyanus425217 күн бұрын
@disdatpog I don't recall ever watching any. I just remember it being talked about. But I was also in my late teens at the time, so that wasn't the content I was seeking out.
@dekoldrick16 күн бұрын
@@gordon1545 This. And then there is the effect it had on the way videos are treated on this platform now. I can go look up a video about a subject a child will have absolutely no interest in and is not anywhere near geared towards children (like mechanical repair videos) having been marked for kids and the comments disabled. So if you have any questions, you're pretty much out of luck.
@riffbw14 күн бұрын
These "platforms" need to have better age restrictions on them. You'll never stop this stuff from being made, but you can age gate it so that it can't be seen. Now some states are requiring age verification for online pron. KZbin may not be far behind if channels keep publishing this content. Honestly, I think platforms should be shouldering that responsibility. Playboy has to bind their magazines in plastic so they can't be looked through on the rack. Corporations have always had a duty to protect age restricted materials. Stores get in trouble if minors touch alcohol, not just purchase it. A kid isn't allowed to carry daddy's beer in the store. Minor cashiers cannot ring it up either. Making KZbin/Twitter/Facebook/etc. responsible for maintaining age restrictions needs to happen.

The other replies here, smh... Dissertation ahead, tl;dr at the end. Dude had a good point. He wasn't fully aware of the extent of what's been going on behind the scenes, but he still had a good point. Leaving Britney alone entirely (not going to concerts, not listening to her music, not reporting on her, not booking her for venues, literally having nothing to do with her at all) probably would've sank her parents' scheme much sooner. Oh, yeah, and that's the other thing: for those who don't know, the conservatorship was a scam built on lies and complacency. She wasn't mentally ill when she shaved her head (she did it as part of her grieving her aunt plus getting frustrated with so many people touching her hair without permission), but they put her on *lithium,* which is also a deprecated treatment method for several reasons. She was capable of taking care of herself and her finances, but they seized control of her bank accounts. She was sound of mind and body, but they robbed her of as much agency as they could just so they could keep milking her for profit. Her two, greedy, deluded, narcissistic parents locked her into a conservatorship so they could steal her money. Remember, all that stuff happened not long after she turned 18. She became an adult and could decide to not associate with her parents anymore. Her parents were so used to their lavish lifestyle (paid for by Britney) that they couldn't imagine getting real jobs and doing real work. They wanted to keep their old 'jobs' as 'the parents of Britney Speares'. They lied about her having diagnosed mental illnesses to further their own goals. Even worse, they lied about the severity and insisted it was bad enough to warrant a conservatorship. It's already hard to get a conservatorship for an elderly person who needs it, but a complacent judge let it happen and let it continue. Conservatorships are supposed to work on a 'least restrictive means necessary' basis. For example, if a conservatee can manage their money just fine but is too mentally ill to handle any of their medical decisions, they can get a conservator of the person and not a conservator of the estate. If someone can make medical decisions but keeps forgetting to take their medication, they *should* be deemed ineligible for conservatorship. Similar deal with finances; if they can earn money but keep forgetting to pay bills, they don't need a conservatorship at all. Conservatorships are meant for the most extreme cases of, for lack of a better term, ineptitude. While Britney was in her conservatorship, she was traveling around the world, performing on stage, releasing new music, and so much more. She had kids, she was caring for those kids, she was willing and able to participate in discussions about her health, she had a grasp on current events, she could dress herself, she could bathe herself.... Now tell me, does that sound like the kind of person who needs a conservatorship? tl;dr Yeah, people really should've left Britney tf alone. She was just a young adult grieving her aunt's passing and seeking bodily/financial autonomy- which were unlawfully denied to her by the parasites that birthed her. Laughing at the Leave Britney Alone guy is too damn close to supporting Britney's abusers.

I will never understand why parents even allow their kids to have a tablet, much less KZbin access...If you wanna give them some screen time, simply use cable TV, pop in a DVD / Blue Ray disk, or subscribe to services that have a kid-friendly setting so they don't see things unintended for children. They don't need social platforms or apps. In fact, they don't really need to be on a screen - they need time to move around, play with other kids, read books, and do things that actually stimulate their minds. Parents need to take better care of their kids, instead of allowing a device to do that for them. Out in public? Give them a coloring book or some paper to draw on - or use a kid's menu that has activities on them. They don't need a $500 phone or tablet. (side note: Ban Peppa Pig)
@Sarahopal20 күн бұрын
I'm so thankful I raised my kid before the internet. I take care of other kids now though. I work with kids who have been through foster care and have a lot of emotional issues. One of the kids came to stay with me for a few days and she wanted to bring a tablet. I said no, you won't be using that here. Mom was pretty shocked. It takes a day or so to get them to calm down. I can always tell the ones who are used to watching videos all day. They are tense and don't know how to entertain themselves. Then the parents always wonder why they are so much better behaved for me. Maybe because I enjoy hanging out with them and they can tell. It's all very frustrating. Especially when a parent says "oh they rarely watch a tablet." Then the kids say they watch all the time. Its bad for their brains.

KZbin in 2017: Elsagate bad, BANNED KZbin in 2024: Sonic the hedgehog shits on cameraman from Skibidi toilet while Huggywuggy records it...seems legit, push that into recommendations
@Mooms23 күн бұрын
The part that bothers me the most about the Elsagate situation is that parents will just hand their kid an iPad or their iPhone with KZbin on it and let them go wild without actually checking to make sure their kids isn’t stumbling upon something inappropriate and then get upset when they do (it’s why bills like KOSA exist, cause parents think the internet needs to be catered exclusively towards their kids) There’s also the fact that there are already apps like Netflix that have kids content on it and are checked to make sure they’re appropriate, unlike KZbin Kids’s shitty system where Elsagate content still sneaks through
@Epic_C23 күн бұрын
The fact that it is all hosted on the same platform as normal KZbin is also part of the problem. They created a separate "KZbin kids" app, but it is all on the same platform, controlled only by a simple flag embedded in the video. In my opinion, kids content shouldn't be on the internet at all. You can blame the millennial and gen z parents at this point.
@hauntedshadowslegacy282623 күн бұрын
@@Epic_C Except this started with GenX parents and Boomers. Plus, GenX and Boomers are the ones largely in control of the US government still, both in terms of holding office and holding bargaining power. My sister and BIL are Millennial parents and don't let their 2-year-old on the internet. Steve Bannon, David Hayes, Donald Trump, Greg Locke, Dusty Deevers, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ted Cruz, Roseanne Barr, Lauren Boebert... None of 'em are Millennials, let alone Gen Z. They're the idiots pushing bills to ban adult content from the internet. Them and their extremist voter base- most of whom are well over the age of 50. There are things the younger generations *do* deserve blame for, but this puritanical tripe ain't among 'em.
@OverlordZeroULTIMA23 күн бұрын
Hell, why don't they just go to Disney Plus or cable TV if they wanna watch Disney stuff so bad? Tbh, I wouldn't sit any kid down to Peppa Pig either, I'd give them something that's actually engaging and entertaining for all ages, like Toy Story. Or I suppose I could say Bluey, but I'd be more biased toward shows from when I was little; I saw Rolie Polie Olie was on Disney Plus now and almost want to watch it, despite being an adult. THAT SHOW WAS MY THING...Cute robot boy and his boxy friend. It's just sad that kids' media isn't what it used to be; Dragon Tales, Bear and the Big Blue House...OG Blue's Clues...Yep. Those were the days.
@ProjectZERO.Gundam23 күн бұрын
I used to see my little sister watching this avocado show on yt and it was 100% Elsagate. I kept trying to get her to stop watching it, but my stupid, uninformed parents would get angry at me. I believe children shouldn't be on the internet without responsible supervision.
@dumptruck_babs23 күн бұрын
I remember being appalled at some of the content I'd come across while watching KZbin Kids with the eight year olds I babysat. So much of it is entirely inappropriate for children, or it's otherwise completely vapid brainrot. I'd make them turn it off and direct them to Nikolodeon or something instead.

For the elsagate, i think instead of blaming the platform, parents need to take a good hard look at themselves and why they're letting their young kids roam free on the internet. Sure, some content should be restricted and if it's targeted at kids it should be specified as such, but parents need to be involved in their kids lives and monitor what they are consuming. Over and over parents continue to blame everyone else instead of looking at themselves and changing their parenting.
