We are going to perform this magnificient music in Matthias Church, Budapest, on 24th November, 2024. I highly appreciate this recording, it is a marvellous performance. Thanks!

Excellent, Excellent Performance!!! Musically, there is so much to praise. What impressed me the most is that people of many ages were in the choir. The experience of this music will live with the young ones for the rest of their life.

A wonderful piece, set for tenor voice ( second register) as was Faure' requiem.

Great interpretation, great choir and conductor... You lucky, having Olivier Latry. Congratulations. Greeting from Mexico👍👍

If I recall, this piece was originally premiered at St. Sulpice, with Widor on the main organ, and Vierne on the choir organ. Such an underrated piece!

Such a moving performance. Lovely singers. Some of them knew their parts by heart. Isn t it admirable? Thank you very much. Beautiful images as well. The refinery of the small organ is exquisite.

Messe Solenelle by Vierne is a new and nice experience to me. Man thanks for this enjoyable presentation.
I know this mass very well, it is usually dung at Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris. In the Gloria the organ roars as if there is an earthquake.

...wow, masterful playing by Latry and what brilliant singing by the dedicated choir! ❤

This was so much fun to watch! 1. It's Vierne (and Monsieur Latry, not going to lie!), and 2. You get to hear the difference between the choir organ against the main one, and it was a fantastic contrast. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Finest performance of this great work. Unfortunately too rarely performed. It was one of my favourites to conduct and listening to this has given me the bug to do it again sometime!

thats because it just never sounds as good without the Notre dame organ

Arguable.... but that shouldnt stop us from performing it and hearing it more. Its some terrific writing!

@@SPrescott2611 no doubt, its just that most English and American churches and their organs don't have the power or size required. think if a chamber orchestra tried to play a Mahler symphony with such a small size. american churches are also fairly modern, it really truly does take a medieval cathedral to create the amount of sound. English cathedrals organs are sub par to French ones, and a significant amount of American organs are from the 60s-80s. churches from the 1800s are wood brick and plaster, and cathedrals are mostly highquality solid wood and stone. even worse most modern ones are concrete and plywood and the organs in those arr electric or very small

This organ is well over 100 ranks and the building is friendly to it as well.

Dear one, when you conduct amateur singers (however good they are, and THEY ARE GOOD ❤️) you have to behave strangely!!!! Just think that you owe this beautiful choral sound to these strange, but precise and expressive gestures!
