Thanks for the tour! It's nice to see the paintings cleaned, well-lit and jewel-like in such uncrowded galleries. If I'm not misremembering, I recall that in their chapels in Notre Dame they were quite dirty, very dimly lit and only viewable from skewed angles. Here you realize that this is the apogee of French academic painting in Louis XIV's time and that they're very underappreciated.

You are correct, they were so dirty from years of dust, candle soot and and most hadn't been cleaned in over 50 years.

I agree with you about the liturgical furniture. I wish they would have made a replica of the high altar and more classic furniture to match it.

the high altar was already a 80 s design before the fire. Most of the original altar was destroyed in the XVII/XVIII century witht the reform of the liturgy

C’est normal , ces tableaux ont été restaurés . La lumière des projecteurs est là pour les mettre en valeur . Avec la restauration de Notre-Dame , ils seront replacés à l’intérieur de la cathédrale avec de nouveaux projecteurs pour les mettre à nouveau en valeur . C’est un simple bon sens , il suffit d’y réfléchir .

When I hear about paintings being destroyed I cringe .
